Switch Online for Mobile Released

Nintendo has released the Nintendo Switch Online app for Android and IOS, giving users the ability to voice chat for their online services such as Splatoon 2.

A Nintendo Switch must be registered to your Nintendo account for you to be able to sign into the app, as it uses your Nintendo ID to authenticate with.

Edit: It appears they have marked the service for "Server Maintenance", giving out error code: 2817-0700. It seems we will have to wait a little longer to actually use the app itself.

You can grab them here:

That's what I was talking about. It should be really easy for them to just make some sort of WebView for eShop and optimize the interface for small touchscreens.
This thread is debating on how the Switch Online voice chat setup is a mess. How would another app that's literally nothing more than a webpage frontend be any better?

We're talking about eShop functionality in the Switch Online app, not eShop as a separate app.

So... literally just a browser built into the existing app, instead of going through all the pain-staking effort of opening a bookmark in your regular browser. Such a time saver.

It's no wonder the app stores are filled with garbage.

Well, it's the easiest way I can think of to give people what they want (eShop in Switch Online app). Nintendo already does it this way on the Switch itself, so why not?
I personally don't care about all that extra functionality since I won't use it anyway, it's fine for me as it is.

so if it's just that simple whats wrong with having it be there just to make the app a little more useful of just having it right there, unless you have an idea of why it shouldn't be there, why not have an all in one stop for all your switch related stuff including shopping, and if they wanted to get fancy they could instead just reuse the switch eshop menu as I feel like it could go over well

Oh. That's still an Internet connection.
Well, it's mobile data. Point being you don't have to have a router and all that nearby, you can play online and voice chat in the middle of nowhere. The phone tie-in can work, especially because Nintendo has mobile games as well. Would be cool to see achievement sharing and stuff like that, but obviously they need to simplify voice chat first.

My kid can't use the splatoon app because she's to young.... and I can't override this setting in the parent control :gun::switch:

Well, time to make a new account.

ya, the parental controls stuff kinda bites at times, was trying to set up an account for my sis so she could have her own save for splatoon 2 and due to age it makes her have to be a child account, which you have to give card information and pay 50 cents for, which, fuck that, not giving out card information so we just bumped her age up 3 years to 13 when making the account and went with that, I make her play with my switch in docked mode only anyways to make sure she doesn't screw with anything she shouldn't on my system :ninja:
