Switch Online for Mobile Released

Nintendo has released the Nintendo Switch Online app for Android and IOS, giving users the ability to voice chat for their online services such as Splatoon 2.

A Nintendo Switch must be registered to your Nintendo account for you to be able to sign into the app, as it uses your Nintendo ID to authenticate with.

Edit: It appears they have marked the service for "Server Maintenance", giving out error code: 2817-0700. It seems we will have to wait a little longer to actually use the app itself.

You can grab them here:

The only screaming i hear are from the people here flaming about the idea of an app for that task
maybe its because you need this additional app on an additional device when other systems offer this within the console itself.

maybe something nintendo should have seen gamers are using a lot these days and like sony/ms included the feature in the console.

anyone whos not a fan can see this switch was another rushed console solely focusing on its gimmick, it lacks features that consoles have had for some time now.

I don't get any error. Not much you can do with it though.

most pointless app ever. an app to allow you to use your phone...AS A PHONE! nintendo: 1 step forward, 2 steps back
Nintendo wouldn't be so stupid to leave it as is. I have a feeling the have a few tricks up there sleeve. TBH I like the idea of being able to control this kinda stuff through my phone. Now what I would really love would be discord for the switch. ^_^

The app actually works now for people who tried it last night and it had "Maintenance" going on.

What's next a pc client? What if people don't have cellphones? :wtf:

I would least preferred a 3DS app, IT HAS A MICROPHONE! The wii u gamepad HAS A MICROPHONE! O_O
(no i'm not saying use the wii u for this sort of thing) But I mean why couldn't the Switch just have microphone, or least bluetooth headset connectivity?

I bet you could use this with Bluestacks on your PC :3

Cool beans, didn't expect it to come out so soon. Means we get more than a year free with full online functionality.
Full online functionality?

WOW Nintendo did it ! thats groundbreaking news, now you can use your phone to speak with people far away !
Never thought this would be possible at all.

So true. Nintendo once again showing how futuristic they are!

Great, now we get to hear everybody repeat the exact same whiny comments they made when the app was first announced.
It's valid criticism. Deal with it.

I don't see why they would put a root check in an app like this

Inb4 exploit using this app
IIRC, they did it to Pokémon Go before.

meh. it's nintendo. you will hear screaming.
It's funny how some Nintendo fans think that screamy users are only on other platforms. How naive they are.

Wel isn't there a positive side in separating the audio stream from the data stream the game is generating. This would keep more bandwidth free for the game.

The Switch is a step-forward but online services are a step-backwards. I don't know how anyone with critical thinking can defend Nintendo.
By being a diehard fanboy. Literally nothing Nintendo does any more makes sense....
