Hardware Is the Switch Dock board expensive to make?

Nah, bend is either there or not from the beginning. It doesn't get worse and heat isn't the reason for it (impossible considering the temps). It's just bad construction on Nintendo's part. If you measure it you'll see it won't expand/contract anymore than it has.

This guy even got his brand new one shipped like that.


I play exclusively in docked and mine is fine.

I did not check if mine was bent when I got it, but it may very well have been.
However, the Switch does get pretty hot when docked, so hot that I considered that there might be something wrong with the fan especially as I never hear it, but when I put my ear up to it I can hear it's spinning so I suppose not. It's not uncomfortably hot, but it definitely is hotter than I would like. I'm mostly concerned about the battery as that's the most heat sensitive part.
I don't think we can rule out the dock causing bending due to heat, it does block the air vents after all.
Whatever the case, I am going to be very cautious so it doesn't bend further.

Yours possibly could be defective then. My Switch doesn't have this problem, and like I said I use it in the dock exclusively so the dock isn't the reason. It's probably hotter than it should be considering I put it in a cabinet along with all my other media center stuff lol.

Battery isn't the reason either, if you see inside they included more than enough space for it to expand safely.

I'll wait for the Nyko dock version, I just think it's a little bit better design.

Plus it's from an actual company not just some crowdfunded thing that may or may not even ever come out.

My Switch is noticeably hot when being in docked. It's okay but it won't be safe for long time gaming (not good for battery life). It needs to be out of the dock by using extension usb cable connected to the dock or other third-party docking devices.

It's still well within safe temps and I don't know where you're getting the idea that it's not good for battery life lol.

Same. I rarely ever take the Switch from the Dock and it's perfectly straight as it should.

The bent Switch units are from bad QC.

The only way to avoid that is by not playing your Switch at all

Even out of the dock (connected by USB cable on a stand) the temps reach 45ºC, in dock it reaches 46ºC. No significant difference in terms of long term. (Temps based on playing Zelda BOTW)

Dock or no dock you're gonna need to replace the battery eventually but by that time a better Switch will be out anyways.
