Really?! what's the file extension? .tap? I tried loading Gianna Sisters (tap) and Bruce lee (d64) (awesome game btw) and both crapped out...
I try again..

Thanks.
Tap that I got from that site that is an EMUlators Paradise lol the game appears to be about 90% slower than it should be (estimated amount I have no scientific proof of just how slow it is lol)

get the asset folder from here https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-assets and place it in media
I too first got the assets directly from RA, uncompressed assets.zip in the media folder but no UI change. Downloaded this and put in SD > retroarch > media and Directory I have the same SD > retroarch > media, yet it's still with the green text. I'm definately on 1.6 so I'm not sure what's happening

This is because the default path is incorrect, it needs to point directly to the assets folder, not the media folder.

Ah so it should be SD > retroarch > media > assets?
I wasn't using the default path to make sure I wasn't screwing up

Yes; alternately you can put the assets folder directly in the main folder (as mainline retroarch has it), and set your path to SD:/retroarch/assets.

Has anyone tried DosBox yet with working controls?
I am really anxious to play Wolfenstein 3D yet again after years, but I'm not sure if Dosbox on Wii U is already fully compatible with customizable keys/controls.

I guess that bounty has gone to waste it's been a month since it started and donations haven't been made in some time :(

Lol I'm pretty sure I did tell you when you first thought of this that the bounty was pointless and would not attract any Interest from devs. Oh no wait that was the one for dynarec I told you about not dos box but the same applies

Oh it does?!
So I can just get it working without issues?
What about the controls, do they work?

No issues I can see, Sound seems to work and the Gameplay seems 100% (as long as you set CPU Cycles x 1000 to 3)
To get the Controls to work first boot the game you want to play.
Then open the Core Settings, then Controls and set the User 1 Device Type to Mapper.
Then go to the Options Menu and change the Retropad Buttons to whatever Keyboard keys you want. :)

Freaking neat, I will give it a try when I get home. :)
I have never used Dosbox before, how do I setup the files and everything to get Wolfie to run?

I've only tested one HID controller so far (arcade stick). Can you describe your issue in more detail?
Sure, I'm trying to setup two hid, a GC controller and a keyboard. Now I have the GC controller in slot 6, and keyboard in 7, both are correctly recognized and properly binded. The problem is that if I want to use the keyboard for user #1 I need to bind all the keys (no problem there), but if I want to use the GC controller also in user #1 I need to bind all the buttons again because otherwise it takes the mapping from the keyboard. Short story I need to remap/bind all the buttons everytime I swap keyboard/gc controller for user #1, it doesn't happen with Wii U Pro Con or Gamepad, as they are assigned automatically and the buttons maps are binded to default (auto).
