My DS is from before there was anything but silver. It's on the default firmware DS came with. I'm unaware of any updates to DS firmware nor CFW.

My 3DS XL is blue/black and on whatever firmware the original limit was to use Gateway. Gateway's done what I need it to, so I've never messed around with CFW

Its an early very in testing phases exploit that uses a certain flashcart for the DS and a magnet to (Hopefully) install CFW, but its not available yet, but this method could replace hardmods and repair bricks! (Except MCU bricks)
