You already have a9lh don't you? What's the issue? If you don't have a9lh yet, you can use an alternative entry point like OoThax.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Are you sure it removed a9lh? If you have just arm9loaderhax.bin from Luma on your SD and you boot holding Select, what happens? And what happens if you boot with no SD?

Ya it did, but GREAT news! Turns out Soundhax does work for 11.2.0-4U, i just had to try a bunch of times and tinker around with stuff in the menuhax, but it worked! I stayed up all night, but now have al9h 11.2.0-4U! I setup GW payloads and can even play the games from my Red Card. I've backed up all the saves with SaveDataFiler like i wanted, FINALLY!

I tried to update from 11.2.0-4U to 11.2.0-35U, but Sysupdater still isn't working for me even now.

Anyway, my questions now are:

1) When i install games as CIA's on the sysnand, do i need to update to the latest version 11.4 to play online or can i stay on 11.2?

2) Is it safe to play my games online with the Red Card in GW mode? Would that even work since I'm only on 11.2? For some of the roms it says an update is needed for this game, should i just ignore that or is it safe to update those games?

3) Can someone please explain how the Luma Updater is meant to be used, and what it does? Is this like updating firmware on the sysnand, except it's for payloads?

Thanks in advance.

1. Nope, you can use CTR-httpwn to play online on a lower firmware
2. No, unless you get a private header from a game you own and inject it into the roms. If you don't do this you'll be banned. You can update games either using the eShop (you'll need CTR-httpwn) or through freeShop while the game is loaded in the cartridge icon. Or you can download the update cia manually and install with FBI.
3. It updates the CFW - for example fixing the bugs with the homebrew launcher and DS games caused by the latest firmware update. Usually you want to update Luma before updating your system so that any problems caused by the firmware update are mitigated before you update.

Perfect thanks a lot! Regarding Question 2, does this mean i can't just update the game like normally when prompted? When i start it, it says there is an update available, with the option to ignore and launch the game or update. So i should only update from eshop/freeshop/cia?

Updating from the home menu is the same as updating from the eShop, just like a bit of a shortcut.

Hi there! New here and I'm really glad to be. Thank you for adding me! Could you help me?

I have a 2012 Nintendo 3DS XL (Blue/Black) and right now it's on Ver. 4.3.0-10U (well, it's been there forever I think). I've been trying to load "Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World (U).3ds" to no luck. It keeps getting stuck on the 3DS Logo screen all the time.

Btw, I'm using the Gateway version Ultra 3.7.1 BETA files from their website.

Could you please point me in the direction as to how I can play that game? What I have to do? Thank you so much!

Are you using an emuNAND? If so, when you boot into Gateway mode, hold the D-pad up when you select it in the menu. That will allow the 3DS to update from the rom. Poochy will update you to 11.2.

Hi Quantumcat! Well, I'm actually a little embarrased to say, but I don't know if there's an emuNAND installed. How can I know? I thought the Gateway card or the "Launcher.dat" inside the SD card was an emuNAND... now I'm all confused. I can play downloaded ROMs on it after the Dragon appears by pressing "Select" and that's about all I know. Meh.

Ok. First, backup all the files in your SD card (the one inside your console not the one in the Gateway card). Boot into Gateway mode with the cart outside the 3DS. The menu will come up. Go across to create emuNAND or similar. Select it, and wait for half an hour or so while it creates an emuNAND. When it is finished, turn off your console and copy the files back to the SD card. Boot Gateway mode mode again with the cartridge out. Put the cartridge in, then go to boot Gateway mode. Hold up on the D-pad and press A to select it. Now try to play Poochy and it should update your emuNAND. Then you can play Poochy.

But, after this, never update your console because 11.2 is the last supported version.

To people in future, don't recommend 3ds.guide to him because his skills are probably not up to it and it would just cause him issues.

Hey that's awesome thank you for your time! Ok, but lemme make double-sure I get everything right first: I just went and copied all the contents of my SD Card (the one in my console) to my PC (which are the files shown in the pic). Then I will follow all the rest of your instructions. I have some questions first, sorry.

When you say "Boot Gateway mode again with the cartridge out" do you mean the Game Cartridge? (Cause I don't have "Poochy" on a cartridge, I only have it on a .3ds ROM). Or did you mean the Gateway Red Cartridge with the game inside? Or which one? Sorry my IQ level is so low on these things...

Sorry I meant the Gateway cartridge. So like go to the DS profile and do that thing but do it without the Gateway cartridge inserted. If the cartridge is inserted it skips the menu.
Don't worry about what I said at the end of my last reply, it has nothing to do with intelligence, it's just experience at having done these things before. Better to walk before running!

Oh ok! Got it! I'll proceed to follow your exact instructions.

And do not worry, I wasn't referring to your comment bro, I said it because sometimes when I read these posts here from other users I feel there's so many things one can do nowadays, so many! Like those ".cia" files and "LUMA" and "9ld" something, all these interesting things (which I know nothing about and don't really know what they do, but would like to) but they all sound amazing!!!

Ok Quantumcat, hehe. Here's what comes up.

When I go into Gateway Mode (without the Gateway Card inserted) on the top of the bottom screen I see this: "Gateway 3DS ULTRA v3.7.1"

And right under it I see the following options: BOOT GATEWAY MODE - BOOT CLASSIC MODE - BACKUP SYSTEM NAND - BACKUP 3DS GAME CARTRIDGE - BACKUP 3DS SAVEGAME - RESTORE 3DS SAVEGAME - DIAGNOSTIC TEST - FORMAT EMUNAND - INSTALL NVRAM - DOWNGRADE CONSOLE

Which one should I pick?

Format emuNAND

Formatting... standby...

When it is finished, turn off your console and copy the files back to the SD card.

Ok, sweet! Finished doing that! I'm noticing that when I put my SD card back into my PC, now it has a "LAUNCHER.DAT" file on it. Question: When I copy all the files back to the SD card, do I overwrite the present "LAUNCHER.DAT" file or leave it there and just copy all the rest of the files that were on it EXCEPT the "old" Launcher.dat file that was on there?

The launcher should be the same as the one you copied - it leaves it there so you can still boot to Gateway mode even if you forgot to backup your SD card.

Are you sure they aren't unlinked already? By having them linked, sysNAND stuff should show up on emuNAND and vice versa?

Ok, when I go to copy the files I backed up from my SD card back, Windows asks me if I wanna overwrite the Launcher.dat file that's already there with my old one. Should I overwrite? or...
