The thing is, that 0102 error code was a temporary ban caused by Gateway I believe, until Pokemon SuMo which was the first and only (until now) instance that the 0102 ban was permanent. So it's safe to assume this is too.
I feel given the description mentioning basically hacked consoles and illegitimate games it's a safe assumption this is permanent.

That's very interesting that it says nothing about bans, but on the U.S. page, it is stated explicitly.
Maybe the American TOS is more strict?

And you have proof of this where?
I will google for it tomorrow. Legit users was hit by it as well, especially the once that got cartridges early.

it can't tell between carts and downloaded software. there's also the issue of legit CIA files.
I was under the assumption they can tell who is downloading off their servers, see their NNID/console information and easily compare it to what they've legally purchased in the past or what came pre-packaged with the console (assuming that'd be on those special consoles anyways) But yeah I guess it'd end up causing a lot of problems. Their system just seems to be trash all around I guess.

Also how many of us were using region free games out of curiosity? I'm guessing that's not it but who knows.

No but it doesn't say explicitly that it's permanent, just that requests for unbanning will be denied, which they'd tell you on the phone anyways before this was a thing.

I called Nintendo CS and the goober said it was temporary. Of course, in light of this, I now have my doubts and will call again when they're open for confirmation.

So is the true, please don't call to me if you pick this error

I do not know if anyone posted about this before but one request was closed 23 hours ago on nintendo HackerOne page

There's no correlation so far between who got banned and why... How would they find out who has CFW, and why only these people?

Oh I'm sure they found something that indicates CFWs, that wouldn't surprise me. As to why, its because using CFWs breaks their TOS. Its a bummer, but hey, I get it.

Is it really that bad that people are being banned from playing online though? Also, couldn't people set up their own servers to connect to with our new best friend, SigHax?

Its not the biggest deal, but I can't access Youtube or Netflix on my 3DS now. And the one game that really sucks now (for me anyway) is Super Mario Maker 3DS, you can't do the 100 Mario challenge which is the bulk of the game outside of creating levels.

Ohhh, that does suck if you can't use YT or SMM online. Couldn't this ban be bypassed though?

I dunno, I'm not sure if this method works or not. I haven't tried it, I'm on B9S and the first post says it only works for A9LH, though it was also described before B9S was a thing. So I'm holding off on attempting this fix, as its not a pressing issue for me at the moment. And I imagine in the next few days more information will drop in regards to methods of unbanning yourself. I have no idea if we will be able to bypass it or not, but I'll be patient here for a bit, and hope that a way around it will be confirmed.

You should be fine, B9S is pretty similar to A9LH, and all you're doing is dumping system files, with can be done with the same old GodMode9 or whatever you prefer.

Yeah, that's what I figured. Still, I'm just gonna wait for people to report on their success rates with this method at this time, or see if other methods pop up as well.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
