So I turned on my Switch after turning it off 2 weeks after launch

I think I'm on 2.0 cos I remember updating it and it is now telling me I have an update = not on latest

OP says I can access eShop

I set DSN indicated in OP and reboot, but cannot access eShop, however I managed to download and patch BotW

Is this "you can access eShop" thingy dead ?

2.3.0 is out apparently

Did you manage to fix the problem?

Sorry for the late reply. After you rebooted you have to instantly launch eShop and not even waste a second, else it'll see that you need an update.

You know I haven't updated since 2.0, and I've been able to download titles until today, when I bought Thumper. Apparently the download is finished, but at the end I get an error. I've tried redownloading demos from eShop and I got the same error as well. Can anyone at 2.0 confirm the you can, in fact, still download titles?

The last title I downloaded was the Testpunch one yesterday and yes, it worked. 2.0.0 here with the DNS IP mentioned on the first post.

Thanks for the answer, it was kind of a relief.

I found the culprit. A few days ago I bought a new 128gb SD card, and apparently you need to update to be able to use XC cards, so yeah.

I'm using a 200GB MicroSD in mine and I'm on 2.0.0 without any problems tho. Maybe your card is defective?

My crystal ball says we will be using floppy disks

No, you cannot use an external hard drive with a Nintendo Switch console.
You also can't officially use an external HDD on the Wii and we still do.

but that is thanks to the hax isn't that so ?
so what you are saying is, through exploits we may be able to use the usb slots on the dock of the switch ja ?
On the Wii, it's because of homebrew, yes. Nobody can tell you if we're ever going to see that on the Switch. Personally, I don't think so.

It's not really an exploit, many things can crash the Switch. As example I tried running some exploits from the Wii U on my Switch and all it did was to crash the console on most of them.

Ok, I tried this and it worked but after downloading "arms online testfire" the nag comes back again
Do I have to reboot everytime to get rid of the nag?

is there a way to download via eshop without updating? I would like to stay on my FW for potential cfw/homebrew in future but I also want to keep my system legal for reasons.

Yes its in the first post, Change the DNS in your switch to 173.255.238.217 and then reboot your switch and go into the eshop right away.
