Hey all.
So I bought a ps4 on the cheap. Seller had a corrupt HDD and didn't know what to do so he put it up on sale. I bought it stripped it cleaned it and put new thermal arctic 5 compound. Runs like a dream however the damn thing doesn't play games. It plays blue ray films after 2 attempts. Is that a laser problem. I rebuilt the database updated it from 4.0.6, re installed 4.55 and cleaned the lens. However when i download games (free or demos as I can't afford to buy anything) I get overkill with error messages. ie data corrupt you need to re download etc( 21000d )and unable to connect to server ie Street fighter V , nba 15 , 3v3 to name a few.
now this is supposed to be a top console however if Sony can't even address these issues 3 years after launching and try maintaining server integrity as other users are experiencing same problems especially SFV (even though its capcom its under Sony's jurisdiction) then I will wait and pray for a hack otherwise will sell it and f&#k Sony. Nintendo baby all the way. There's so many times to go into safe mode rebuild data or full install.
i Really am disappointed with it.
I've seen other users upon doing a Google search having same or similar problems.

Im guessing its a motherboard issue, your saying you download the games and it still gives you errors? You have taken the ps4 apart and did new thermal paste right? Takeing apart a ps3 or ps4 can be dangerous beacuse that motherboard is not made to bend and do twisty moves, even if your gental it can damage some component on tha board, did you also have shock resistent gloves on when doing this? What type of errors is it giveing you? Su? Ce? Ect?

By stripped, they meant disassembled. They had to disassemble it to apply some thermal compound to the CPU.

Have you tried a physical game?

Errors I get vary by numbers but they are all CE . I took it apart and cleaned it and re applied thermal paste. I've done around 5 ps3 so I like to think I know what I'm doing etc.
Now yesterday was an interesting day for me. I turned on my ps4 and I got the screen telling me to apply a update for my console 4.55 or above. I thought this can't be right so i turned it off and on again. Same error. I went into safe mode rebuilt database same error. I put the 4.55 update not the full firmware and it didn't accept it. All my saves games etc are gone basically. I had to install the complete firmware (900mb)
I Lost everything but they can be recovered by re downloading them. my time however cannot. So anyway I can't understand how many problems the ps4 has. I read about other users having similar problems. If there was a problem with my hardware it wouldn't let me get this far.
I dunno. I might just sell it and enjoy my ps3 !!!

Does anyone one else live with you that could be messing around with your ps4? That update thing sounds strange.

The PS4 is plug and play. Try an external HDD to see if it's an issue with the w/r of the internal one. I don't know if you were having issues with the disc drive prior to taking it apart, but it wouldn't hurt to check that all the component connections were replaced securely.

Yeah the disc drive doesn't read games but it does on films after 2 times

I like how you ask if it's just your console and then go into state a Google search returns several users with similar issues. The thing with Google is, you're going to get search results that are really close, if not exact, to what you search for. So yes, if you search "ps4 server issues" you're going to turn up results of people that have server issues. That's how search engines work. It doesn't mean Sony has a widespread problem. You're definitely in the minority. If this was that big of an issue, Sony would be out of business.

Back on topic. Maybe you should have replaced the hard drive and factory reset before you "stripped" the PS4. I don't know why you would do this anyway. Sony hasn't had any major issues with heat, this generation. But I suppose, you probably Googled "PS4 Overheat" and saw that it was a widespread major issue and decided to rip it apart.

The PS4 is basically a PC crammed into a fancy box and with DualShock controllers; it should be treated as such.
People around the globe experience seemingly random errors, random shutdowns, HDMI issues and whatnot.
Haven't heard of your specific issues before thoug, so I can't be of any help.

What system in the last 20 years wasn't a PC in a box?

Enlighten me? Never experienced such glaring, console breaking issues before. It is really cumbersome never knowing WHEN your PS4 will shut down randomly into a black screen and a white light of death. This is something I expect to happen to windows, not a console designed to run specific stuff.

I re downloaded the firmware (full one 900mb) but this time from a UK PlayStation store not the american one I used and so far it seems OK. Not getting errors like before.I ordered a replacement laser and waiting for it to be delivered. I am using it though for online games and it works even with the DVD drive removed. I removed the DVD drive so I can change the laser when it arrives.
