Hardware Do we really NEED a battery pack for the joycons?

I don't think mine have died, or even gotten close to dying, since I've owned my Switch. I mean it's cool, but....I can't ever see myself using them.
Yup. Once used up, just place them back on the Switch and it'll charge again. No need for a charging station or a lump-ish add-on. :P

The damn things last 20 hours on there own, why the hell do we need battery packs for them?

Unless of course ARMS' motion controls kills the joycon quickly.
Lol I doubt 1 game would necessitate an entire separate battery

Heck, if they wanted to add extra battery packs for something, why not add it to the switch itself (which lasts roughly about 3 hours) rather then something that already has sufficient charge? Id Be amped for that.

Great priorities nintendo

But if it becomes situational, is it really worth the money?

Depends on your situation. I can imagine a few specific situations certain people might run into over and over again that it could be worth the money, but to most people, no I don't see it as being worth the money.

That's basically a piece of plastic where you place two AA batteries and then keep on playing. I bet Nintendo will charge it for more than it's worth it.

The Joy-Cons last 20hrs so that's more than enough for hours on end, unless someone keeps playing constantly (not recommended or healthy).

I mean worth it in the sense that the particular consumer wants to keep playing their switch with their joycons disconnected (say for 2 player multiplayer), but can't because the joycons aren't charged. Not worth it in the sense that the plastic connectors actually costs to manufacture the $15 (or however much they charge) they end up charging the consumer for it. Hence why I said that if you find any worth in the product will depend entirely on situations that regularly or not run into in operating your Switch.

Its bad enough there aren't really viable options to charge the joy-cons in the first place. Aside from having them in the Switch itself (and it has to be turned on) you would be required to make an additional purchase for a charging joy-con grip.

The damn thing costs 30€ and it's just the base piece of plastic that you strap to the Joy-Con without anything else. Nintendo is definitely not charging more than it's worth. Surely.

People are trying to justify these by saying ARMS might use more battery. And I'm thinking, they last 20 hours, what is the worst case? They last 10 hours instead? Who is willingly playing with motion for 10 hours? Because I gotta think, generic controls wont use more than zelda or mario kart, and I know zelda and mario kart have the same controller life span, at least for me.
