I don't really have the money to pick one up when it launches, but here are a few reasons I might consider (if true) getting one:

- Better screen quality
- Better battery life
- Better hinge design
- Lighter weight
- Moddable
- I like the looks/design more than the N3DS XL

The N3DS XL has a terrible floppy screen, and I can not play it lying down. The system is too top heavy.
My hope is that they've made the upper portion of the N2DS lighter, and made the hinge much better.
I am also hoping that the standard upper screen w/out 3D will be sharper and less fuzzy looking than the 3DS.

If this new system can hit all of these points, I think it would make for a compelling buy. Even if you own a N3DS.
I only wish they would have made it some size between the reg N3DS and N3DS XL. A 4.2 - 4.5in upper screen and a 3.7in lower would have been great.
What do you guys think?

This is pretty common in the videogame industry. Thinking back to the PlayStation (PSX), Sony released the PSOne after the PS2 was released. There's the Game Boy Micro, released after the original DS, there's the Slim PS2, released in the last year or two before the PS3.

This doesn't take into account things Microsoft has done (HD-DVD, anyone?).

There's no reason to get up in arms about this. An ever increasing amount of people can only afford the last generation of consoles. I mean, the last PS2 game came out only one week before the PS4 launch.

Yes because it shows Nintendo still cares about the 3DS audience with the announcement I suspect the 3DS still has at least 2 more years of support left.

They already proved they still care about the 3ds before this announcement by saying they will support the nintendo 3ds throughout 2018.

It's larger, lighter and will probably have much better battery life than a regular N3DS, so if you can't enjoy / endure stereoscopic 3D than the N2DS XL is clearly the 3DS model to go for.

It's a no brainer.

I agree with most. Except the screen size. I would prefer a bigger screen. Perhaps 5.5 inch. The upper screen should look like samsung s8 with no boarders!
