I am on 11.2 and LumaCFW v7/A9LH on my son's New 3DS and 11.4 and LumaCFW/A9LH on my own New 3DS XL.

Everytime I open Luma Updater now, it crashes the 3DS, on both systems.

Any ideas?

You sure your internet is set up right on the 3ds's?
Gotta see the blue bar on the top left.

That's the one I have that keeps crashing

Yep, internet working fine. Tried deleting Updater and re-downloading using QR code in FBI, but still crashes. Always crashes at the "Checking for updated updater" stage.
Hmm, that's strange because I just deleted it and scanned the QR code and it didn't crash. I even did the same process on another system and it didn't crash at that spot either.

EDIT: Tried it on all of my systems and it never crashed.

I just updated to 7.0.3 last night with it. Didn't have any issues whatsoever. Just manually copy the bin over if it crashes on you. It's not the end of the world. Probably good idea why it does that. Maybe your SD card is corrupt, write protected, or even fake.
Try testing.
