I'm currently doing a nand back up with D9WIP and it says it's dumping sysNAND (MB): 1888
How do I get it so it makes a complete image of my system with all the games? Because pokemon Moon itself is more that 1888mbs

Your games and most other applications are on the SD card, not the NAND.
If I made a backup of my SD card to my computer and the nand to my computer, format everything, then restore the nand, would the nand still read the SD card data and read all the games on the SD card?

Use Tinyformat when doing the format, it doesn't touch sd content.

But I backed up the nand and my SD card.
Both backups are tied together since the contents of the Nintendo 3ds folder was being read by the nand.
If I format both my system and my card, then restore the nand to my system, would the nand still read the same content it was reading on the SD card before the back up?

backup your tickets. format with tinyformat. reinject tickets. games show up. no need to perform and restore an a nand backup just to format.

Yes (presuming you copied the SD card files back to the SD card, of course).

My own standard backup process is to make the NAND backup to the SD card, and then copy everything on the SD card, including the NAND backup, to my PC.

you don't even need a nand backup for this (anyways you should have some) backup your tickets, format with tinyformat which will leave the sdcard untouched and not remove any games, reinject the tickets, which will make the system show up the titles again.

Your tickets are already included in the NAND backup, and my standard backup process gives me a complete archive of my system. I don't know what advice they're giving you.

advice is, if OP simply wants to erase user data without wiping the titles, OP has to back up tiks, tinyformat, and restore tiks, done.

Yeah but I'm seeing if I can go back to an older firm hence why I asked this.

In that case still the same advice, if you have installed any titles after updating they will not show up at restoring the old backup, so you need to inject you tickets, still a correct advice to get you up and running.
