i already have a 4gb micro sd that came with my 3ds (got a 64gb one for a9lh). also im confused whats the difference between gold and gold wood
They are two completely different cards and makers. The one we recommend uses r4wood kernel, which works flawlessly. You have to be very careful with names on flashcards for ds. There are a lot of "gold" cards, but they are all very different.

I meant I've got the dual core 2016.

the dual core and gold pro cards OP has linked to are both identical internally. I actually own both and both use the same firmware/kernel and act exactly the same. Virtually no differences between the two in my testing, and both have advertised functionality that are broken (cheats). Both also started freezing mid-game after about a month or so of use. I tried re-formatting the SD as they recommmend, a brand new SD, none of which fixed the issues. And they never released any firmware/kernel updates either to potentially fix the issue. So I wouldn't recommend either of them for long-term, especially when the r4i gold 3ds actually works including all of it's advertised functionality for just a few bucks more.

That's fair enough but it's your own experience. I personally don't use cheats. I've had mine for over 6months and not had any freezing issues at all.

cards with r4isdhc.com on the sticker (OP) are BAD. even if they work, they will timebomb unless you replace with ysmenu, and then dsi enhanced game don't work. They are clones of...

r4i-sdhc.com. Thi is what the other guy cloned. Not Wood, but decent firmware, and work like they are supposed to as i recall.

r4ids.cn is great, and has official Wood firmware, and is the ONLY Wood cart with RTS. Wood Goblin supports this cart, along with original r4 and original Acekard RPG. 1.64 is developed by them, and has RTS function in it, with Wood's blessing. Best sub 20$ DS cart.

r4isdhc.com.cn runs hacked Wood, has no timebomb, no RTS, but does work alright. every function works as advertised. best sub 10$ ds cart.

Ace3ds+ is about as cheap, and seems to run the exact same firmware as above (but uses different encryption on said firmware).

I can't speak for any other carts.

ok, looks like i got some solid answers to things i need to know. Now thing is, i found this site that looks trustable and ships from the u.s. do you guys know if its trust worthy? its called http://3ds-flashcard.com/
There are a bunch of results if you search for "3ds-flashcard.com" on the forum. Here's a notable one: https://gbatemp.net/threads/bad-experience-with-3ds-flashcard-com.404774/
Seems like their customer support is not great although the package getting lost/stolen was hardly their fault. At least they seem legit, if a bit dodgy.

Okay I'm just going to buy one through 3ds-flashcart. Now last question, which R4 should i get? One says its the most popular while the other says its the most recommended. Here they are: http://3ds-flashcard.com/204-thickbox_default/r4i-sdhc-3ds-rts-2013.jpg. http://3ds-flashcard.com/84-thickbox_default/wood-r4i-gold-3ds.jpg. From what you guys are saying the 2nd one looks like the better one, but I wanted to be crystal before I buy it. Thanks.
The second link

if you read the previous post you would see that, I don't like nds-card they ship from hong kong, prices are horrendous and I don't want to get started alright?
I just compared pricing between 3ds-flashcard.com and nds-card.com. I have no clue what you are talking about when you say "prices are horrendous" because it's only 9 cents more on nds-card.com
Edit: and it's free shipping as well so no shipping costs wouldn't affect it

Prices are the same as all other sites that sell legit flashcarts. The shipping really isn't that bad; It's free, and it took ~1 week with me on the eastern united states.
