Guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/beginne...me-backups-and-homebrews-on-wiiu-vwii.388448/

PLEASE NOTE: The wiiU insists on formatting the SD Card/USB storage device, I refused as it wasn't stated in the guide that it is necessary. If this step was required then it should be included in the those instructions.

I have a Wii U 5.5.1 and SD Card, when I try to goto WiiUBru site to install the apps it just freezes at white screen and nothing happens. I waited 5 minutes still not results. I had to force shut down the entire console and nothing changed.

What am I doing wrong here? I followed the guide as it says, and did nothing else.

I even followed this: https://www.psxhax.com/threads/hack...a-wiiubru-go-jailbreak-without-pc-guide.1265/

The result was the same. So clearly there is more to do than just insert an SD and goto a site. There is a presetup needed or there is something wrong elsewhere. A noob guide with details would be appreciated.

Did you read the noob guide. That's what you asked for.

Which noob guide, if you are talking about the one with the Nand stuff and the gather of your system console then I'll pass. I was told its as easy as 3 clicks going to one of the sites and it all happens automatically for you which is as NOOB as it gets, all I have to do later is copy the game over to the SD to play it. But if that is all not the case then I guess ill get a pro to do the modchip instead.

SD CARD SanDisk 32GB SDHC I (1) (10) 80 MB/s Ultra Plus

Using USB Adapter: FSGetMountSource Failed.
Using SD Slot: Could not load Homebrew elf file...

Website used Loadiine.ovh website.

UPDATE:

Formated SD Success with 32GB 64k Allocation using Windows Explorer.
Started WiiU. Went to www.wiiubru.com and installed the app installer first.

These noob guides need to change, decided to goto a youtube video that not only tells you exactly step by step, but shows you it too so you can't fuck up or miss a step.

I'm talking about the one that says "[guide] Noob Guide To Wii U Hacking"

It's a step by step. It's not rocket science and every step is spelled out but It's NOT as easy as 3 steps.

There is no ModChip to install for the Wii U. You have to follow the steps in my guide. If you don't and you follow some other guide then come here complaining because you're getting some error "then I'll pass" on helping you.

You asked for help. I told you what you need to do. You don't like my answer. You want a 3 step process that doesn't exist.

Go ahead and just pay someone to install an imaginary mod chip. If you don't like the answers we give then you're free to go complain somewhere else.

I used a youtube video because your guide is missing major steps or better yet, its not as noob friendly as you it is. Also being rude and ignorant isn't appreciated either.

Never ever follow a youtube guide my dear friend. They are obsolete really quick, and most of the times they are missing important steps.

Well this one worked for me and it uses the WiiuBru.com site to install the homebrew launcher, now I just need to figure out how to properly launch a game title backup. Say...Zelda Breath of the wild. Finding a USA copy is annoying, unless it won't matter cause there are only EU copies on torrents (hope thats not against the rules discussing that.)

I got the loadiine gx program also from wiiubru, but his guide supposedly says you should get it from loadiine itself.

Ummm. That's in my guide to. It's step by step and spells out every step. If I'm missing something let me know and I'll update it. Just ask around. How many different YouTube guides are you gonna have to jump around between to get your answers? Theyre all in the guide.

Here's a hint. Look into Wii U USB Helper

Problem is, I cannot purchase any game online, in order to install this "Haxchi then Homebrew Launcher" method. So the browser method is the only way it works for me...

You can still do it without HaxChi. That's just the easiest way. Read the whole guide for hells sake. It even tells you to read through it first

And if the guide is telling you to use loadiine it is way out of date easiest thing to do is get the game via Wii u USB helper and install.it with wup installer

Yeah I can give you a step by step on how to put water in your gas tank. Doesn't mean it's correct.

You followed a guide to use an old launching technology but hey, it was step by step! It must be true!

Did you even read the fucking guide? It tells you straight up that there is not a "one size fits all" solution. You have to actually read through the sections and decide based on all the information which solution will work for you. Any guide that just gives you steps to one of the many different hacks and doesn't tell you why you're doing that is pure shit. There are many options and each option is spelled out and has STEP BY STEP instructions for installing it. You have to actually use your brain a bit and decide what works for you so you can inform yourself on how it works and how to manage it. If you just blindly follow some shit youtube guide you're not even going to understand what hack you have and you're highly likely to fuck it up and then come here crying for help. Just like you did. If you followed such a great guide then why did you even make a thread?

@Marcus101RR stop being a dick and just follow the guide by @Kafluke who is probably one of the most respected and nice guys on this site. The guide is not only easy to follow but is also the most up to date guide you will find.

I'd really like to improve the guide and make it easier to follow. It started out as a step by step for a buddy. It was just like the other guides. I just told him step by step how to use WUP Installer method. Then others asked for it so I posted it. Then it grew and I've been trying to "tame" all the info ever since. I'm always open to criticism on ways it could improve to be easier to follow.

I thought about making a flow chart and I worked on it one weekend but the amount of choices led to arrows all over chart and it just looked more complex. There really are a lot of ways to run a hacked Wii U. No solution is really "the right way" to do it. That's why I list all the choices with enough info to hopefully help a sane thinking person to make an informed decision.

Homebrew developer here (dabbled in exploits too) - PLEASE DEAR GOD NEVER USE A YOUTUBE VIDEO GUIDE!

The thing with YouTube is that it's a monetized platform; and thus creators are incentivized to make their video look like the best, most up to date, most reliable guide on planet Earth. This is fine for around a month or two - until the video becomes outdated. By that point, the video will have doubtless started gaining tens of views (best guide on Earth, remember?) and nobody's gonna take down such a popular video! Thus, it stays up, and the creator gets literally paid for old or straight-up wrong information ("There's no IOSU exploit", for example.) Of course, as this video continues to gain traction, YouTube thinks that it must be pretty damn good, and starts to promote it. You can see the cycle that starts here - it's how YouTube is supposed to work.
One problem - It's terrible for content that needs to stay up-to-date. Archaic guides that initially got some interest dominate the search results, while up-to-date stuff that showcase homebrew's best find themselves buried. Sure, there's a temporary promotion for brand new content, but once it wears off this effect is in full swing. This makes YouTube a pretty bad place to find the current best method for brew.
On the other hand, written guides can be updated after the fact while still retaining any traction they may have gained. Due to the way forums and Reddit-esqe sites prioritize new content above anything else, guides that fail to do this will quickly be replaced, with search results changing to reflect this. This means that someone looking for tutorials are far more likely to have an updated, comprehensive guide as the first result. As an added bonus, these are non-monetized platforms, meaning that anyone writing a guide isn't doing it for cash but because they want to/love the scene/whatever. You'll get a better guide as a result.

(Also, YouTube guides' constant use of Mega makes the statistician in me die a little. Think of the analytics!)
