A good point, though I can think of proper uses also, like when someone makes a silly mistake. There are also ways to use it like you said correctly, like in the EoF.

I honestly don't think a single emote will change the frequency of trolling, but I see where you are coming from and can respect your opinion.

Right, and all that happened without a derp emote. I doubt adding it will really add to the cancer. Its going to exist one way or the other. I don't think any piracy fueled memelord children are gonna say "Hey! I heard GBAtemp has a derp emote now! Let's go troll there!" ya know?

Just as a counter-point, we already have some emotes that could be used for this purpose. examples:

Really, any emote can be used that way depending on your tone.

It's true that other emotes could convey the same idea, but derp is hilarious. This is also a bit specific, but it works much better in any of those same examples when you add related words to it. IE: "oops, I goofed. Herp." I guess the bottom line is that I think its a funny face. Not much else to it.
