Homebrew [RELEASE] BootAnim9 - Custom boot animations for your 3DS!

If someone can send me the compiled test branch I can test if after I eat. I don't have the environment to compile nor do I know how to set it up.

All you have to do is back up your current arm9loaderhax.bin, drop this one in its place, boot up your console, do what I said above and when you're done restore the old arm9loaderhax.bin

it was tested twice on a n3ds a9lh sysnand 11.x running luma 6.6. my a9lh version is the one used by 3dsafe so it already has screen init and thats all i can think of.
the second time i ran it bt_env was all zeroes.

bt_env is the BOOTENV variable. Basically, if BOOTENV equals 0 it means the system was coldbooted, if it's 1 it means it was rebooted, etc. This will be used so that the animation will only be played in the event that the system was coldbooted.

As for the bottom screen, that's odd. The "corruption" is expected, after all I point the GPU to an uninitialized area of VRAM, so it's expected to be pseudo random. On the other hand, the exception handler didn't get triggered, much like my other N3DS tester... I'll have to look into this.

Can anyone with an O3DS and 2DS test it as well? It doesn't really need arm9loaderhax by the way, you can boot it with safehax or any other ARM9 entrypoint.

Which arm9loaderhax.bin aim I renaming to arm9loaderhax_si.bin? The bin from your zip or the bin provided by Luma3DS? The use of "it" is just vague and I don't want to break out the screwdrivers again.

I end up forgetting all the details after playing lots and lots of games three months later. I have read the wiki during the summer and I have read all the instructions. But, I still mess up. Thank goodness for backups.

In short, I am dumb and I ask questions just to be 110% sure.

EDIT:
Still black screen on boot. I've tried updating my A9LH. I've renamed the payloads correctly. Everything is where it should be. Every time the A9LH from BA9 is the main payload, guaranteed black screen. If you request more screenshots then I can provide how my files currently look.

I have been trying to create my own custom boot animation but am completely lost and stumped on how to do it. I have been trying to make a windows xp loading screen boot animation for the top screen. If anybody knows a tutorial via video or is willing to help me make the windows xp loading screen it will be much appreciated. i use the latest A9LH from Luma3ds 6.6
SW version: 11.3.0.36-U +Luma3ds&A9LH
Luma version: 6.6

1. drag the new loader onto root of sd and rename it "arm9loaderhax_si.bin"
2. drag your original loader into the anim folder and rename that "arm9payload.bin"

This should fix the black screen problem

Just go to the root of your memory card and look for the "arm9loaderhax.bin" then rename it to "arm9payload.bin" and transfer it to anim folder. Now, the "arm9loaderhax.bin" that is with the BootAnim9 folder rename it to "arm9loaderhax_si.bin" and put it in the root of your memory card. you will have now this directory structure:

SD Card/arm9loaderhax_si.bin

SD Card/anim/arm9payload.bin

for the boot screen

SD Card/anim/0/(your boot screen files)

edit : .... i recommend removing "hack in progress" as the "zippyshare" link tried twice to give me garbage before i actually got the proper file and even then i dont trust it ... not everyone is going to realize that could harm their computer and i would hate to see someone lose all their stuff over a malicious link .... either that or leave a warning saying to make sure it gives you a .7z compressed file instead of a .iso or other filetype like it tried with me ... just figured i should make you and everyone else aware of this ... happy downloading ^.=.^


edit 2 : ok the file it gave me at the end is a proper animation file .... but a warning at the least or a diffrent link to the source file should be added to its entry ^.=.^

i am obviously a charizard fan and i used the script made by @Docmudkipz to throw together a few bootscreens for the charizard lovers out there ... these are only tested on n3ds and i dont know how well they will play on o3ds however i figured i would share them none the less ... happy downloading ^.=.^
