New clovercon driver installed just with new patched kernel. It's hard to remotely understand why your controller is not working :(

Hi, @Cluster, it's me again.

My friend installed 2.14b and his controller was unreadable too.
But when he disabled the turbo function on the setting, the controller was detected although with error: it was detected as 2nd controller and run on its own (uncontrollable).
In my case (undetected controller), I ticked almost everything (reset with button combination, turbo function, pause on controller 2). Could it be that the cause of the problem because I was selecting more than it should be?

I also have another input that might worth-considering for the next hakchi update:

Maybe we could save our folder setting in 2 or 3 sets.
Let's say I have already had my ideal folder setting, but then I want to try to install large sized PSX games, so I have to deselect all of my games in the previous setting. After I'm done playing my PSX games, I want to go back to my previous settings but I have no choice but to select them all and rearrange them manually into the desired folders.
It would be great if after we'd set the folder setting that we want, we can save it in Set 1. When adding PSX games, we save it in Set 2. Then after finish with Set 2, we can easily choose Set 1 again to have our previous setting back. Is it possible?

Thank you in advance. :)

You do not have gzip installed.

Installed GZIP but same error.

No need The use of make_skin_mod.bat ?

I have nes.png in nes_mini_skin_hack folder with make_skin_mod.bat, i just run make_skin_mod.bat but still give me that error. Also nes.png is inside skin_hack folder.

I noticed a lot a newcomers here and on Reddit, welcome :) I am wondering if there was a new shipment on NESCE's that I have missed. Did you guys bought a new mini, 2nd hand or did you just waited till now to do the hack because of the new release? Sorry for my curiosity and again welcome to the forum.

gzip is probably missing in your widnows path. Anyway inside Cluster's package there is folder \tools: there you can find tar.exe which should be the file you are looking for; try to put it inside \windows\system32 folder and re-try if, after installing gzip, the error is the same you shown previously.

Do you have any save states? N64 in game saves? snes9x2010 saves? The games don't even have to be loaded onto the NESCE, as they are retained for later... The only way to clear them out totally is to do a factory reset. Maybe uninstall any unused cores...

Thanks ill try and reset and clean all history plus weed out unused cores and see here it goes Thanks agin

Thanks for the support. Did the steps but still the same error. :/

I download Gzip from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gzip.htm (sources zip file).

Hmm... got problem. I just flash my nes mini to original then flash to custom.

Now all I can see the led is doing slow blinking.

Anyone had the same experience?

I accidentally flash using old kernel and for some reason it doesn't boot up. Life is good again lol!

with your new nes.png inside the folder...copy the whole ‘skin_hacks folder’ to your ‘usermods’ folder in hakchi and also rename the folder to ‘skin_hacks.hmod’ . install as normal

This got lost a few pages back..love Metal Slug..and my better 1/2...my g/f..and have been trying to install them..no luck..I have Metal Slug 1 and 2 running with mame2000.Metal Slug 3 with mame_mini (which I had to install it versus trying to run just mame2003).I have the bios_neogeo.hmod installed..with neogeo inside of it.Then have to have some Instructions to say put the neogeo bios in each folder. Some games on mame require you to zip the bios and the game together , then make a zip file out of it and load it into hakchi. There are 3 diff neogeo bioses out there that work for diff verisons of Metal Slug games. I have all versions of MS on mine except for anything past 3. Is it possible to load and play past 3 on this system,or Do they past 3 need an updated emulator above 2003 ??

Just curious, why are you running mame2003 and not mame2003_mini for metal slug 1 and metal slug 2? Is there any advantage of running the mame2003 mod?

Bummer. I'll have to live with the "sweat"

I'm starting to think you can't access dipswitches with this core. Based on what I read here https://forums.libretro.com/t/how-do-i-access-dip-switches-using-fp-alpha-core/6291

Another reason to use mame2003_mini.

I would be very interested in your feedback on this controller after you receive it. It looks really good.

Well, after two days of playing with the 8bitdo nes30 pro, It is my go-to controller for all things NES Classic. It's a great controller and the analog sticks work great for N64 games. It feels like holding an old SNES controller, although it is a little thinner.

If anyone is interested, here is the amazon link:
https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Wirel...ie=UTF8&qid=1490192281&sr=1-3&keywords=8bitdo

And here is the retro receiver link:
https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-Retro...ie=UTF8&qid=1490192281&sr=1-6&keywords=8bitdo

You will need to update the firmware for both. Here are direct links for the firmware:

NES30 Pro:
http://forum.8bitdo.com/forum.php?mod=attachment&aid=NTM1fGU5ZTkwMGFlfDE0OTAxOTIzOTh8MHwxMTc5

Retro Receiver:
http://download.8bitdo.com/Tools/Receiver/NesMini/8Bitdo_NesMini_RR_Firmware_V105_beta3.zip

Follow @Kobe46's steps here to get the directional pad to work properly with Retroarch:

Easy steps after patching:
1. Plug receiver in player 1 port.
2. Plug wired controller in player 2 port.
3. Turn on NES Classic
4. For the 1st 8bitdo device, hold start to begin pairing mode. The receiver should also be blinking blue LED.
5. When paired should be solid blue on each.
6. Go to a game that uses RetroArch, once game is loaded hit (default Start+Select to get into RetroArch menu) on the 8bitdo controller.
7. On wired controller in player 2 port, navigate the menu: Settings > Input > Input User 1 Binds.
8. Go down to the user bind for directional, tap A on controller 2 to allow you to enter new binding, then on 8bitdo controller tap the corresponding direction.
9. Follow steps until all directionals are set on controller 1.
10. Confirm now with 8Bitdo device that you can move up and down through the menu.
*Steps below are only needed if you have 2 receivers like myself
11. Unplug 2nd controller and plug in 2nd receiver and pair that with 2nd controller.
12. Once paired, this time use Controller 1 to go back 1 menu to Input Menu, this time select Input User 2 Binds.
13. Follow steps from 8 to 10.
14. Presto, both controllers are now functional, enjoy your gaming
*PS I am not 100% sure if you need to do these steps if you re-flash due to the Retroarch configs get wiped. (If I am wrong that could be only if you re-flash RetroArch itself, if you just add games it should not affect it.)

Well I got dipswitch working with fba. But maybe I'll add mame mini too if it works with X and reads neo geo bios same way and lets me reset!

setting up the neogeo bios is 10x better w MAME2003_mini. You just d\l the BIOS template.. and place the neogeo.zip file in the "system" directory inside that template.. then copy
that template over to your user_mods folder and now every MAME2003_mini rom will be able to load Neo Geo. It's that easy.

That's what I did already with FBA. Same thing. I also put q sound in there. I just can't reset to home with FBA core for some reason. I could with fbalpha2012neo but dipswitch wasn't available. With FBA it is but Home button don't work and down and select won't work. It's like bugged. That works with mame mini right? That's literally the only difference I would need.

Yeah dipswitches work perfect w MAME2003_mini.. I was playing Metal Slug 1 w blood 2 days ago and ran great. It's a great core and if it does play all the Neo Geo
stuff I think it's a good core to use for that too.
