so im working on a smaller dock for travel.this is a smaller dock and will require retrofitting your dock components into the smaller one. here is an almost finished representation and will be printing today
dock.png

it is only 80MM wide and the base is just about the same size as the main board. it is also a good size to balance the switch.

what do you guys think?

Very nice, can't beat the one from Reddit though, that was sexy af with that mirror finish
Well that reddit one isn't really a dock. It with a little sloppy actually. Hear me out ,

While it was smaller , you have to lay your switch on top of it , then a cable came out that you had to buy and connect. Yes it's shinny but you have to buy extra things and when your switch is on it , the cable makes it look unclean. I'm trying to make something more small and not have to buy extra things nor have to have cables hanging all out

Surely laying the console flat is safer than what you're trying to do, what if something knocks the dock? what's stopping it from damaging the charging port?

regardless, I hope it turns out nice and I look forward to seeing progress and pictures! :D

If I noticed any scratches on my Switch from putting it in and taking it out of the dock, I might be interested in such solutions, but really that whole issue just doesn't seem to at all affect my Switch, at least it hasn't yet after nearly 3 weeks of regularly taking it out and putting it in the dock. Beyond that, I like how the official dock keeps the majority of the face of the Switch's screen covered, thereby protecting it from dust and the like.

I get what you're saying and appreciate the feedback !!! Thanks !

Also the actual USB C is recessed enough that it connects securely but not to bend it in case of accidental knock. Also the front bezel prevents it from moving forward. So it's secured on there so says the stress test on auto desk inventor but will further test once printing is done

My dock is more of a travel dock , taking the stock dock is tedious and less compact

this is more of a travel type dock. the regular dock is just too big for taking with you to someones house or event :)

I gotcha, I got this messenger bag that has a great little compartment for the Dock (As well as compartments for everything else), which makes bringing the Switch and all its other components to my friend's places real easy and doesn't make it seem too big.
