Hardware Dualshock 4 vs. GC controller for Nintendont

Guys I need your help,
I've been reading up on what controller to get in order to play GC games properly on my Wii U and I seem to be stuck deciding between these two. First of all, I was hoping someone with experience in using the Dualshock 4 could give me some answers that I haven't been able to find anywhere else.

Basically, I read that the Dualshock 4 has analog triggers like the GC controller does, but I don't really see anyone stating that these work as analog in Nintendont. If anyone has tested this and could tell me, that would be great.

Further, I'd like to hear some opinions on if the Dualshock 4, which being newer, is better in experiencing Gamecube games compared to the GC or at least on par.

Some pros I have for getting the Dualshock 4 are:
Works with PSNow (so I would get one eventually anyways)
The analog sticks probably have a better grip than the GC ones (which I remember being a bit slippery)

Cons:
About 20€ more expensive
Can't use it with Smash4
Not the same button layout (but more buttons) so not the authentic experience

Edit:
I guess the first Wii Classic controller might be an option too, but it doesn't seem as comfortable, still I could use it for other Wii and Wii U games. It doesn't give me an extra controller though, since it plugs into a wiimote. They're only available used too.

For a fiver you could mod a gamecube controller to use different thumbsticks. Something to consider. The Gamecube controller supports replacement thumbsticks without really any modifications.

The Smash ones are just standard controllers with a longer cable though.

I basically agree. I have an Original Gamecube controller (my original from 2003) and it feels more 'solid' compared to the smash one.

Feels better than third party stuff at least. I've never actually used an official original gamecube controller, just Smash 4 and third party. I quite like the Smash 4 version, maybe it's because I haven't experienced the original.

The longer cable is one of the reasons I would rather get the smash ones.

Could you specify what you mean by feeling cheap in hand? Costwise I see they go for more or less the same here (considering I'd have to pay for shipping from everywhere..)

The plastic doesn't feel as dense as an original controller. For the difference in price you could probably just get an extension.

By cheap i mean that they don't feel like quite og gamecube controllers.
Maybe that's just me, i'd rather have og controllers...

In my opinion the plastic doesn't feel as dense. I'm not sure about the rumble motors either, they feel...lighter maybe? Something about it doesn't feel as rugged as an original controller.

Original GC controllers are BEASTS. I threw one against the wall in my early teens and it did more damage to the wall than to the controller.

I just found OG controllers for 17,73 £ on Amazon so that does make them slightly cheaper. Extension cables are cheap enough too.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Classic Controllers? It would be great to have them and play standard Wii U (ZombiU?COD?) and Wii games with.

I personally use a Gamecube to wiimote adapter, which allows me to use it as a classic controller on Wii games. The Classic Controller is okay, but it's really flimsy feeling. Since it's an addon to the wiimote, it has almost no weight as there isn't a lot of circuitry inside.

Thanks, I didn't know this was possible. This does make me more inclined to getting the GC controller. From reading up on it it seems it works with literally everything for the Wii and Wii U (even wii VC).
Found a cheap enough one on Aliexpress too, Mayflash even.

I guess another Pro towards getting the GC controller vs. the Dualshock is that I won't have to think as much when getting button explanations in the games, since the physical symbols on the buttons are the same and not the Playstation symbols.

Yeah, they're pretty good. The Mayflash one states it is compatible with Wii U games that use the Wii U Pro Controller, but I don't know if that's true.

Not quite sure there. There's only a tiny amount of games that supported the analog triggers on Gamecube anyway.

Yeah I know, but I found out Paper Mario TTYD does, so that makes it a must-have. I might finally be able to finish it since I lost the Wii I was playing it on.

I didn't know that. I might boot up nintendont and play TTYD, I haven't actually played that one. Although I've been playing Color Splash, which is pretty fun.

I really recommend it. I got pretty far and it was a great follow up to the original N64 game. I read that some combat attacks use the analog trigger. I figure Super Mario Sunshine uses it too, but I can't be sure about that since I never played it.
