Hacking Best NDS flashcard for N3DS?

Hey, I'm planning on buying and putting CFW on a N3DS for my girlfriend as a birthday present (I already know how to do that, thanks Plailect Guide) but I was wondering what the best NDS flashcard I can put in for her to play normal DS games.

I use Acekard 2i I've had since 2010 and it works perfectly for me, so I looked up anywhere that sold them in the UK and came up empty. Plus the team behind it has disbanded a long time ago, so that's no good.

Anyone know of any others which work well enough and don't die in a few months? I've had bad experiences with R4 cards myself

It's basically praised for introducing all of the Acekard features so it basically had almost all the same features as akAIO. The only feature it didn't have was individual loader updates. I always suggest it because it's extremely light on the battery, the ROM performance is perfect, the RTS is stable and simple, it's easy and highly customizable, homebrew soft-reset, and so many other features. I personally think it's the best kernel next to akAIO and it's also why I always suggest the R4i Gold over other carts.

I always dig my history when people asking about Flashcard or something CFW related.
Sometimes I edit the sentence to match the OP situation.
But Flashcard's question are always similar so I can just easily copypaste the answer.

AK2i still works fine if you manage to find one, its not like there were any new games released after its team disbanded. But this http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149 is basically the same as AK2i with added RTS function.

Price and battery drain are the only downsides. Emulators can be convenient as old3ds with CFW can't run SNES and GBA on CFW lacks any settings or savestates. And for DS games DStwo has nice savestates, slow-mo, text guide functions.

but what about those of us like me who still have 2ds lite systems and a dsi sitting next to my 3ds and n3ds . . . what im saying is its definitely beneficial to have roms in one place you can move from system to system with no pc +1 for "outdated flashcard"

If you've got a good flash card that's great for you. I just wanted advice and I've got it now :)

Plus Acekard 2i is obviously the best /s

Obviously, I am talking about 3DS users. As that is what the OP has.

plus if thats what you belive then any old r4 will work for you r4's wood firmware is just a rip of ak2i firmware

I own a DS lite - with an R4 and an EZ Flash IV. Better than a DSTwo for GBA, for example. There are situations where you have little choice besides using a DSTwo, but more often than not, it is not needed, and the cons outweight the pros.

but you are missing the point why put an emulator on your portable system . . . to make it portable obviously correct?. . . with portability in mind any flashcart's emulator has a clear advantage as it is even more portable as you can remove it and instantly use it in another system
also its silly to bring up r4 and ez flash for gba > ds2, when you can also say ds2 > r4 for snes emulation . . . bottom line if you want perfection only play on official systems and give up on emulation right now . . . but if you want your emulators portable "portable" then it makes sense to go as portable as you can

huh..... I think YOU miss my point.


I replied on this thread. Answering the question of THE OP.

As such, my reply to why not the DSTwo was in context.

More than that. I can also use the EZ-Flash IV in a GBA/GBA SP/GBM. Also, it plays GBA titles far better than the DSTwo.

The DSTWO's emulators are very far from perfect. As such, someone with a DS Lite who wants to play SNES may get a DSTwo, and it will not be anywhere near perfect. Same with GBA titles. Getting a GBA flashcart for a DS/DSL is a far better option for GBA games. A regular R4 will run DS titles fine.
And if you want your handheld to be portable, you certainly won't use the flashcart that uses the most power of them all. lmao.

There's little point to using something like the DSTwo at this point, as its emulation is not worth the power draw and performance.
Would you rather have a bad performance, but "keep your emulators all in one flashcart"? Well then, suit yourself. In the meantime, I'll be using the R4 solely for DS titles and enjoy the 3DS' superior emulation and the EZIV's superior GBA playback.


... At this point, you're just attempting to win an argument without any real reason.
