My friend has a problem updating Animal Crossing New Leaf.

He tried editing his save and after he reinjected it AC was locked. We tried deleting the update data and the other extra data and then we tried updating again. Now it just won't update at all.

We appreciate any help!

Did you try installing the update cia?

You did any change on the NNID linked to the 3DS?
After my 3DS was banned and I unlinked the NNID, all games which I updated using said NNID were accusing a new update and they always ended with an error (don't remember de code, sorry). After deleting all the updates I could redownload them with the current NNID.
If it's not the case, see if you can access the eShop and download something free from there. Maybe you're experiencing network issues.

I also found this topic where someone says deleting the update ticket solved the issue for him:

How do I delete them?

How do I delete them?
Using FBI you can go to Tickets and see all the tickets that are installed in your 3DS, but they show as IDs and you need to find out what is the Animal Crossing Update ID (be careful to not delete the game ticket).
If your version of Animal Crossing is the same than mine (USA, 1.5), look for 0004000E00086300

OO YES BOI ANIMAL CROSSING.

Well, you've tried to update CIA, I suggest trying to import the seed with FBI. Don't delete the ticket, also did you have a backup of the "garden_plus.dat" file before you even edited it?

I suggest trying to inject that if you can, aswell as importing the seed.

The problem is: I don't know the Version of the game. I deleted the update data as said in the OP

How do I import the seed and what even is that?

Also yes I have the unedited save.

Yee try injecting the unedited.

Importing the seed is fairly simple. Open FBI and select 'Titles'. Select Animal Crossing, then if you go down, between Extract SMDH and Browse Save data, there should be 'Import Seed', assuming you have the ticket installed then it should work. If not I have a feeling this MAY help.

What if it's a cart? Do you have a ticket then? Or does importing the seed work with a cart?
