Hacking SD card question

Hello. I want to download some wii u vwii games right now but i only have onw 16gb sd card that i use for 3ds. If i do a full nand backup and delete eveeything off the sd card. Will everything be put back in after restoring the nand backup(the games saves te 3ds folder etc etc)

No. NAND backup has NOTHING to do with your SD card's contents.

Make 1:1 copy of the SD card instead using USB Image Tool. Once you want to restore your SD card the way it was, use the same tool to restore your 1:1 copy onto it. Or you could just move all of your folders from your SD to your computer. Either way works really.

Well you didn't say you're using Android now did you? You need PC access either way because you must transfer your files to safety. An app on android, even if one existed, wouldn't do you any good because the 1:1 copy wouldn't fit anywhere.

If you don't have access to PC for whatever reason then best bet is to buy a new SD card. 16GB SD cards are pretty cheap these days.

You can do a 1:1 copy pretty easily on android if you have root/busybox.

Perhaps, but lets say your SD card is 16GB, and 10GB of that is in use. If you make 1:1 backup of it, where will you put it? the copy won't fit on the SD card itself, and if his aim is to wipe the SD card anyway he would still need PC access to put the 1:1 copy to somewhere. So creating an 1:1 copy on the phone wouldn't actually accomplish anything.

Yea I agree there. Although there are 32gb phones that have plenty of free space as they also use sdcards

@NoNAND with busybox you have access to linux tools like 'dd' which can copy 1:1 from disk to file.

In most cases if you aren't running an emunand you would be fine copying just the contents from your sdcard. Do you need to free space? - I'm pretty sure some people use 1 sdcard on 3ds and wii just fine.

If you experience the filename issue [which you shouldn't on linux/android] then yea 1:1 copy would be safest

I'm going to say that the answer to this question is probably "dd". That thing can wreak havoc if you make a typo, so I wouldn't advise it if you aren't confident.

Some android devices have a significant enough amount of storage space, but I will warn that a 1:1 image of a 16GB card is going to be 16GB no matter how little is actually stored on it.

Hah, you're right. I thought of that but I wasn't sure if that was actually the case. But yeah your phone's internal storage would have to be 32GB, and 16GB of that would have to be free. Doable I suppose, but even on my S7 that barely has any games installed on it, I only have 12GB of free space.

However ... If @NoNAND you're not using emuNAND, then moving the files is actually enough. So if your phone DOES have enough space on it, you could just move the files from your SD card onto the internal storage of the phone just by using the default applications that come with the phone.
