Would be hugely grateful for any help and apologies in advance if I am asking something already covered elsewhere (have searched but to no avail).
Last night I tried to hack my 11.1.0-34e New XL. I was following this guide https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax and got to "Section III - Configuring Luma3DS" before something went wrong. With my SD card in the 3ds appears to boot (blue light comes on but no wifi light), orange light comes on if charging but no matter what I try (select + power, start + power, L+R+A+power) both top and bottom screens are pitch black with no sign of life. If I boot with no SD card I get blue light for about 5 secs and then it goes out and nothing else.

Bricked or not?

No, same thing just happened to me. Just boot normal and go to the browser and download the hack again even though you just did it, then the next step should work. Just do the website download again.

press start at boot to see if you can get into the luma settings. If you can, you're having problems with the home menu files.

backup the sd card, format it to fat32, and place only the luma arm9loaderhax.bin on the root. Then reinsert the sd card and boot.

See if you can boot normally now.

Select boots into Luma settings, not Start.

This is because you are currently on 2.1 and the Nintendo 3DS folder was created when the console was on 11.2.
You have a9lh installed sucessfully. Don't panic. You can press Start on boot to launch Hourglass9, and restore (keep a9lh) the NANDmin.bin you created at the start of the guide.

If you are unable to turn your ds on and it is just a black screen then I suggest you use this video

I had used this video and it fixed my ds, just hope your ds was soft bricked cause if it isnt soft bricked this video wont help much.
Hope this video helps you. Listen and watch very carefully.

Do you have the start_Hourglass9.bin in luma/payloads folder?

Try backing up the Nintendo 3DS folder to your PC, then delete it from the SD and boot again.

Make sure your ds is off then press A + L +R + Left + the power button together and keep holding the buttons at the same time and wait till it turns on if it doesn't turn then I'm afraid I might not be able to help.
