Wow, how did you manage to get it where it can have so many games without running into Savestate limits? I thought it was a set limitation with the hardware
It must be a limitation with how it refreshes cached images, be it the boxart, savestate thumbnails, or pixelart. The new method with folders is making it refresh that cache, it would seem. Cluster has said that there is actually plenty of room for roms and saves, but this image cache/indexing issue has been the root of the C8 errors. That's my understanding, but as to how those folders get reloaded, that's getting into details I do not know. I noticed that folders seem to be listed like a normal game entry and even show 1P or 2P on them.

Perhaps in a future update, Cluster can refine it further so that the folders, instead of having "Gamename-Gamename" Instead will have something like "A-C" "D-F" "G-I" etc. Would make navigating the folders much easier. He mentioned earlier something about disabling the folders all together, but I don't see how that wouldn't just lead to the savestate limit issue again, since it seems like the folders are what is allowing so many games while preserving save states.

currently using the 8bitdo nes30 controller (which is fantastic, no lag and very well made)

if i may ask, do you already have the mini-nes retro receiver from 8bitdo? in europe it isn't available until mid march i have been told...

with the standard pack-in controller the autofire works well, i tried super mario bros. 1 (from the default 30 roms), hold select + A and after some seconds (1-2 max.) mario immediatly jumps the whole time i press B (even if i still hold select)

Has anyone been able to add Road Runner? It runs on MMC3, but I get a mapper error when trying to add it. I have tried both the Road Runner [!] version and Road Runner (USA) [!] version. My patched Holy Diver gave me a mapper error, but I added it anyway and it plays great. Anybody have success with Road Runner?

road runner uses mapper 64 which is (currently?) not supported :(

me too wishes to get more mapper support, there are some very interesting (at least for me) games that use mappers that are not supported (so far?)... maybe the "hanafuda captain" can help :)

I hope ppl are considering donating to the dev that made this all possible and continuously updates, adds features and TAKES REQUESTS. A dollar goes a long way when we all do it.
+1 Cluster deserves it for all his hard work and great support. Thank you Cluster!!

from the FAQ:

Q: How can I donate you?
A: [Clusters] PayPal: [email protected]

It's not a matter of "mapper support." The game (and others) would essentially need to be reprogrammed, which requires someone going through the painstaking process of creating a hack. If one exists (e.g. Holy Diver or Splatter House), the game can be patched and made playable. I was simply under the impression that someone had been able to add Road Runner, but I also thought that about Crisis Force and was incorrect. Oh well.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

One more question, but this time about a game that I know plays! Which is the version of Star Wars that everyone seems to prefer? The Japanese version?

maybe i'm wrong but the "mapper" as i understand it, is a ic that controls how rom data is delivered to the nes and depends on the hardware pcb layout on a real cartridge (ie memory requirements and special features). so patching and the like is only needed if the target does not understand how to handle the incoming data. that is why some pc emu cant run some roms correct. once they got "mapper update" the same dumped rom without any patches runs with no problems. for example the pc emu fceux had no support for mapper 31 until v2.2.3. mapper 31 roms did not work correct in prior releases. now they do.

the victor version which also got a us release works (both mapper 4), but the namco jp exclusive version does not work (mapper 19). i dont know about "everyone" but i prefer the english patched namco version :)

The thing here is that Cluster, and anyone else involved, is hacking the User Interface for the NES Classic. Updating for other "Mapper"s would require changing/re-writing/hacking of the Emulator being used in the NES Classic.

The "User Interface" is not the same thing as the "Emulator". There is another option that's been suggested: someone could write a source-port of a different Emulator for use on the NES Classic. A Different Emulator such as FCEUX could potentially be used in place of the default Emulator.

The Victor version is the one I was thinking of. Is this one different from the US release?

no doubt about that, i'm fully aware of the difference between UI/frontend and EMU

sure there are potentially 2 routes to follow to get better mapper support:

1. someone digs into the kachikachi code (that was my reference to the hanafuda captain :)
2. someone ports x86 emu code for the NCM kernel

sadly i dont have the skills to do either of them.

the victor version (and it's us release) is a entire different game as the namco version

Very happy with my 86 games no folders and tbh having a full nes romset is just too much. I'm never going to play them all. I'm not updating anymore and staying with what I have.

Only 2 games I want that don't work. Akumajou Special - Boku Dracula-kun & Akumajou Densetsu

Until then I'm staying right here and happy:D

Game genie code question....is there any short way to enter them? I have codes for one game I want to add. Do I have to resynch all 305 of my games just to add the codes for that one game? IIRC, if I uncheck all the games, they will be removed, right? Also anyone know how to enter a game genie code in hakchi, that requires two separate codes (ex. Infinite lives = abcdef+abcdef)

TIA!

Yes you have to re-sync.

You have to use a , after every code. These are my Batman codes GEEPOTPA,SZUGGTVG,GZNOUGST

Has anybody got captain America and the avengers working? I've tried a few different versions of the rom and although the game plays OK the text on the menus and the story looks garbled and is unreadable - similar to how pal games look on this emulator?
