Hi, I am new to the wiiu scene, haven't even hack my wiiu yet, planning to trade in my mario kart and splatoon 1 for the switch versions. Figure maybe I should make a backup of those before I trade them in. Do I use imgburn to rip the .iso if I plan on replaying them on a hacked wiiu and cemu in the future?

That's not how it works.

You need to hack your WiiU, and then use homebrew software to rip the disc. Please read some of the other stickied threads for more information.

You can also search for Wii U usb helper . It's a windows application. For your backups
He wants to be able to use CEMU, and I don't think the user wants to go to all the trouble of using CDecrypt. (I barely managed to figure it out myself...)

Besides, he has the Discs, its way easier to just use a disc dumper.

So what is the disc dumper call? For pc?

On pc you cannot dump a Wiiu disc. if you wanted to do that you'd have to use the Wii U console. The USB helper tool can download from a server if you have the ticket. just search for what I wrote earlier.

Going to hack a Wii u tonight, just a quick question before I start. I went into eshop and looked at DS games, I noticed this one was free, it already had been purchased which it hasn't. I downloaded it again. It's doctor kawashimas brain training, is this the version I need?

The thing is I don't want to hack the wiiu until zelda is out. Just incase they release a new fw or have some new security in place so I won't be able to play it. What are my options at create back up if I still currently have the disc? Is it easier just to download the iso since they are not too big. I read that cemu require the keys in order to run the game? Can someone suggest a method that can work for wiiu backup and cemu in the future?

If what you want is a disc image, you have to either make it on the WiiU or download one that someone else made.

If you want to make it yourself:
Make sure your WiiU is on 5.5.1. If not, update it. Get an SD card 32GB or larger and format it to FAT32 on your PC. Put Homebrew Launcher and wudump on it (under wiiu\apps). Open http://loadiine.ovh in your WiiU browser. Choose the Homebrew Launcher option. From Homebrew Launcher, run wudump. Dump the disc to SD. It will include the key.

Those exploits are non-persistent. After you turn off your WiiU and remove the SD card, you're back to normal.

Thank you. So that is the cemu ripping method? Does it rip the same format and allow me to play the rip on my standard wiiu with the current sd card method in the future??

That gives you the parts of a .wud file, which contains the bytes on the disc. What you do with that image of the disc is up to you. I think CEMU can use a wud file, but there's a CEMU thread if you want to ask people who know about emulation. You can extract the encrypted content files (.app, .h3) from the image if you want to install the game onto your WiiU's NAND or hard drive, and you can extract the decrypted files (code/content/meta) from there if you want loadiine-style files.

A .wud file is the closest you get to a physical disc, so if you're going to let go of a disc, make a .wud file first.

Ok, use Wudump to rip the discs into wud files so I can use it on WiiU and Cemu in the future. I'll look into that once I get home. Btw is there compatibility issues for running rips on wiiu. I did a searh on wiiu usb helper and it looks like splatoon doesn't work. Maybe ill keep that game...

Splatoon works properly when installed from the encrypted (.app, .h3) files using wupinstaller. You didn't quote the person's post, so I don't know what problem they had.

If I use wudump to rip the wud file, it should have everything cover right? I don't even necessary planning on replaying the game anytime soon, but just so in the future I can still use the files I ripped on cemu or 3ds and take this opportunity when I still have the disc with me.

I don't know what more I can add to this. If you're comfortable that the capabilities I described will meet your needs, you can make the .wud and get rid of the disc. Otherwise, keep the disc, and you'll have it in case something else is developed in the future.
