Recently, I bought Final Fantasy VIII but I can't play it on my PS2 slim because the monitor I use has no support for AV out. So I tried to play it on ePSXe but when I saw that there's nothing on the discs, I became worried. I paid €20 for this, and I'm so afraid of them not working.

Am I screwed or can someone help me with this issue?
Thanks in advance. :)

If there's nothing then it's going to work.
It's common sense.

Some PS1 games came without files, like Xenogears.
seeing you are playing a Squaresoft game (like Xenogears) they probably used the same method.
the disc should have only the system.cnf and one or two text file. all other files are not "listed" using a file system method (they don't appear in a CDRom on your computer), but accessed using an internal Sector position known by the game.

If your disc does not have a name or the 2-3 small files, then it's blank.
if your disc has a name (SLES-02082) then it's normal !
to play that game from emulators, you might have to make an ISO of your disc and play from the ISO, but I'd thought epsxe knew about this format and were compatible with such empty-looking discs.

Silent Hill puts all of it's files into one ~500MB-ish file with no extension. I think it's just called HILL in all caps, but my memory could be rusty. I was trying to rip some music off the disc from when Lisa Garland realizes she's dead, but apparently it was in .seq format. It's basically a proprietary midi format Konami used for the game, and the .seq files only held data of the samples and the notes to be played, no actual "music".

Thanks so much for your answers guys. I'll try to make a ISO out of those discs, but I'm not exactly sure on how to do it. I know you need ImgBurn for it or some other CD management program. What would be the best method for PS1 discs?
