Just wondering what's best for playing PS1 stuff as I'm new to the scene.

Tested Metal Gear Solid on the latest nightly of Retroarch. A bit of lagging/jumping in audio etc at start. Got in the lift and game freezes with a disc loading icon.

Using scph1001 BIOS.

Any better way for me to play MGS on my Vita? Want to complete it before playing my MGD HD that I got with my Vita.

I'd opt for using the built in ps1 emu. It'll be lower res but compatibility will be perfect.

Vita has built in PS1 emulator?

Yes, I can't find a good thread right now, but provided you have henkaku, look up "Adrenaline" for vita, allows you to use the native psp emulator, which has ps1 support built in.

Uhhh...@ManuelKoegler is completely wrong. Adrenaline still doesn't have PS1 support, and hasn't been updated at all since release.

What has happened, however, is ARK has been ported to 3.60. It has PS1 support, but no sound. That's your best bet for 100% compatibility and playability. You can use Retroarch's PS1 emulator for the Vita which will give you better looking PS1 games, but some have performance issues.

Thanks Tom I thought I had missed something and was googling without finding a link.

Just wish mgs worked with the Retroarch emu for now!!

Of course a sane person would use their modded PSP with a 64gb memory card in it that already has MGS on it... But i like my Vita!!

So far every PS1 game I have slung at Retroarch has worked...not flawless but executes and plays..It's mostly 3-D type style games that have lag issues etc.I have noticed.Good post and looking out Tom.But Vitashell 1.51 is a saint sent home with the direct file copy. This keeps getting better!!

I think I had clearly read that Adrenaline got added ps1 support, but I have must have mixed it up with ARK in that case, sorry for the confusion if anything.

Just a shame the memory cards are extortionate to buy. I've just paid £30 for a 16gb made my eyes water. Seems I've bought a PS Vita at the right time though, FTP was irritating USB transfer miles better.

PC is choice number 1!
after that I would use my PS3 and PSP. third choice would be the raspi 3 and then Vita of course.

so, go with your PC and forget about it.

Where is the fun in that though??? I look forward to PS1 support to be added to Adrenaline. I really should just use my PSP for now but if PS1 support got added properly to my Vita I think I'd sell my modded PSP.
