This is the best news I have seen of the Switch and sure am glad that cancerous social community won't be part of Nintendo's new home console.

Nintendo just did a lot of us a favour by getting rid of it. :) The Miitards in Miiverse used to get me banned unfairly for false reporting my posts and then I was eventually banned permanently. Really, what a great, fair and wonderful community led by staff members who truly care about it.

Okay..both are annoying as well. :D
I don't get what's so annoying about Miis. They're not really invasive, they're just kinda there. Sure, you see them on the friends list and stuff but aside from that they only ever really appear in games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

Miis are fine, I really hope that they stay because they beat having a ton of preset icons that will make you fade into nearly any lobby you enter...
Miis are OK but they pale in comparison to the Xbox Avatars. There's really no reason why Miis can't be customised like Avatars can.

Hmm... I did see a Mario Icon from what little we seen from the home screen, but that might not mean anything.

I mean, I like the Xbox avatars, but I really like Miis more. They avoid the uncanny valley for me by being so cartoony, the Xbox ones on the other hand try too hard to be human and it usually fails (imo).

They may just be phasing out the "Mii" name with the "Wii" name. Improved avatars like Miitomo or XBL ones with a different name other than "Mii" would be awesome, though.

I have never even taken my 3DS online. I know of the MiiVerse but have never used it. I know of StreetPass but have never used it. When my 3DS is off, it's fully off. I can say one thing for sure: kids love Miis. I like them too.

I think there's no need to rebrand Miis to something else (if that is what is planned). The name is sufficiently different to the Wii, plus their use is seen beyond the Wii. It doesn't remind me of the Wii at all, but rather an electronic identity well beyond any particular gaming platform. Which is exactly what it is. No rebranding necessary.

I think you quoted the wrong comment, because I was talking about Miis, not Miiverse.

I don't really care that much about Miiverse, I just like the Miis. I'll be good as long as they don't remove them from the switch.

(Offtopic: Did anyone else see a mii character flipping over several tiles (via a ground pound) in "Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 - Software Line-up Video"?)
