Now that I've gotten homebrew working I've been adventuring around for apps I can use.

If you have a9lh, you should have luma3ds' a9lh, meaning you have CFW, yes. What guide did you use to set up a9lh?

If you have A9LH, I suppose you're using Luma3DS. That (or Corbenik, Cakes, etc.) is indeed called CFW in this community.

PKSM - if you have Pokemon
freeShop
CHMM2
Manga Reader - despite its name, you can read any comic/book on your 3ds

You can install NTR CFW (despite its name, it's not custom firmware) for cheats and find cheat plugins for the game you want. Google search for the BootNTR Selector thread and install one of the two CIAs in the first post of that thread. Most save editors will be PC apps, and you can install JKSM as a CIA to extract your save file.

gameyob and snes9x for 3ds as well as the 1.3.3 releases of retroarchs picodrive and quicknes. for emulation and stuff.
3dsident and ctrx sd explorer.

most homebrew can be found in the titleDB.com section of FBI btw. that includes some homebrew game ports too

If you have 'new' 3ds, I really like pcsx Rearmed; play with the config and you should be able to get 47-59 fps. I also enjoy homebr3w--it lets you download more homebrew.

What about jksmk

That's a version that I haven't heard anyone recommend because they're all happy with the regular version of JKSM. The developer of JKSMK got rid of a bunch of "features" that were deemed "unnecessary" by himself and no one else, therefore no one recommends it.

Homebr3w uses titledb.com.

You actually don't need Homebr3w, simply boot into FBI which you installed while following the guide, and near the bottom of the main menu you will see "TitleDB", click on that and you will get a list of good homebrew. I like to just get random homebrew that seems interesting and installing them.
