At the moment, when I try to access Gamecube games on Nintendont from my external 1TB harddrive it says "USB FAT device could not be opened." Any suggestions?

Are you sure your HDD is set up properly? It needs to be a FAT32 partition with the ISOs in HDD: /games/gameID/game.iso. Also how is the HDD powered, via the Wii or external power supply? If via the Wii are you using a Y-Cable?

The partition part no, I have it in /games/gameID/game.iso, via the Wii and it's using a 3.0 usb cable.
I guess I need to partition it, my plan is to be able to load the Gamecube games through USB Loader GX, if I partition it will I still be able to do that?

The partition needs to formatted as a FAT32 partition or the Wii won't see it. I would suggest using a 3rd party partition program to format it as FAT32 as Windows sometimes won't do it. There are plenty for free that will fit the bill.

Got any recommendations off the bat? I appreciate the help by the way I've been going in circles for awhile.

Also make sure there are no extra partitions before the Fat32 one or you will have problems. Some HDD external makers add an extra partition to the beginning of the drive.

Has anybody made a GUI tool to manage gamecube games on a storage device? Something that will batch go into each directory and make sure the iso is named correctly, extract 7z if necessary, and create cISO option?

Any particular reason why you need one?
Because in the old versions my ps2 to usb adapter worked perfectly with 2 players changing the multiin value to 2, but now it works very badly, the joystick of the second player connects and disconnects all the time quickly and the buttons respond as if they had the turbo function

Did you use a custom controller.ini?

nintendont uses all controller inis that were on googlecode and now on github automaticaly if no controller.ini is found on the root of the sd/usb.
Ah yes, I misunderstood the question. I used a ps2 controller.ini provided by google code and I modified the multiin value to 2 and saved it to the root of the SD, I always played multiplayer with two ps2 joysticks until I decided to update the application and now it doesn't work.

Take that controller.ini you had and put it in the root of the device that Nintendont is stored on.

Are your games on the SD card or a HDD? Everything for Nintendont (IPL, configs, saves) has to go on the device the game is on except the dol.
All nintendont stuff like games, dol, controller and ipl are in the SD,
I can move everything to a usb device and leave the dol in SD. I'll try

the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now

    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol

AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Tandem even
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think i heard of that, it's a good idea, shouldn't need a dedicated GPU just to run a LLM or video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the nvidia shield tv has AI video upscaling
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
LLMs can be run on cpu anyway but it's quite slow

Have you ever been beaten by a wet spaghetti noodle by your girlfriend because she has a twin sister, and you got confused and fucked her dad?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I had a girlfriend who had a twin sister and they would mess with me constantly.... Until one chipped a tooth then finally I could tell them apart.... Lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They would have the same hair style the same clothes everything... Really messed with my head lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@The Real Jdbye, I could see AMD trying to pull off the CPU GPU tandem thing, would be a way to maybe close the gap a bit with Nvidia. Plus it would kinda put Nvidia at a future disadvantage since Nvidia can't make X86/64 CPUs? Intel and AMD licensing issues... I wonder how much that has held back innovation.
