If i wanted to back up a particular CIA game, it's installed DLC and even it's savegames and extdata, but not the entire mSD card, what part of the card should i backup?

It's hard to tell apart games when they're on your desktop screen, they're not just going to be named (3ds game name here) or whatnot. The only working way I know is to just copy each individual folder inside the Nintendo 3DS folder, and hope for the best. Or backup the entire mSD card, delete one folder from the mSD itself, see which game is missing, and until you get the game you're trying to backup to disappear on your 3DS, keep restoring the backup and deleting a different folder.

Game data and save data is stored in SD:\Nintendo 3DS\<ID0>\<ID1>\title\TitleID High\TitleID Low\
TitleID High being the first 8 characters of the title ID, and TitleID Low being the last 8 characters.
DLC has a separate title ID and is therefore stored in a separate directory.

Damn that is actually really helpful. Thank you.

Also, forgot to mention, extdata is stored in SD:\Nintendo 3DS\<ID0>\<ID1>\extdata\00000000\ but I don't think they have the folders simply named after the title ID like game data/save data does. This page might provide some more insight: https://www.3dbrew.org/wiki/Extdata
Generally it's better to use JKSM to export save data/extdata because it saves them in a decrypted format that's compatible across 3DSes/NANDs and won't be invalidated if you launch the game after exporting the save.

It is more a ''just in case'' i screw up the game because i am installing fan patches to it... and i want a 'get out of jail free' card.
