Yes @Cluster you should add the driver option back! I wasted so much time trying to get the drivers to install. All I need was the older version @qproject posted. I opened the older version installed the drivers then loaded up the newest version to add games and do the kernel stuff. Virus detection is obviously a false positive. TBH i would take a virus to have this hack lol!

LMK if I can send you a donation for giving us this amazing tool! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think a lot of the problems people were having were being caused by AV software "fixing" the download. Turning off AV will make the alert go away, but depending on the AV software and the settings they might also need to redownload and reextract the archive again to repair them. I think avoiding the AV flags in the first place is probably a better idea, maybe just add some more detailed instructions.

After trying everything I can think of, I am unable to get the driver to install.

Boot in FEL mode (holding 'Reset' whilst pressing 'Power') - no LED illumination - get the Windows sound confirming it has detected something.

Firewall Off, Windows Defender Off, Boot with pressing F8 and deactivating the relevant checks, using Zadig, using device manager (all in Admin mode) ...nothing will get the driver to install...?

I am going crazy trying to get this to work!

I get the screens below from Device Manager and Zadig.

PLEASE... Can anyone assist? Is there something I need to have on the MINI NES beforehand, like no save states...?

Using Windows 7, SP1 Home Premium - .NET 3.5

turn off device signature checks (accessed via reboot on windows 7 F2 or F8 I think). Then run the driver installed as admin.

Stuff like this is pretty much the only reason I want an nes mini. That said, if anyone has been able to use this, has anyone had a chance to test with either the mmc3 or mmc5 builds of minus infinity?

Hi folks (It's been a while!)

Just wanted to say thanks to Cluster and report my findings.

I thought using an old laptop running Vista might be better than Parallels via Mac OS Sierra but on the laptop I was left with the Power LED stuck on, when I tried in Parallels / Windows 8.1 (Had to use v2.01 to force the driver install) it worked first time!

Tried the new hakchi2 version but still the same problem. Driver install with zadig works with the old hakchi interface, but hakchi2 won't detect my NES (although the driver shows correctly using USBDevview for example).
See the screenshot: on the left, the old hakchi which at first doesn't find the NES (it's turned off), then detects it once in FEL and dumps without problem (as far as I understand). On the right, hakchi2 which doesn't find my NES using the driver already installed.

Moreover the driver provided with hakchi2 doesn't install: I get the error (in french) saying "une erreur s'est produite lors de l'ajout du pilote au magasin".
This makes me think that the driver is not compatible with non-US windows (I run Windows 10 in french language). I use an Administrator account btw.
Any ideas ? Thanks !

I've read this thread since it started and I went through the process without any issues thanks. I added 25 games so far and I'm having a problem with the last couple I want to add. Super Mario Bros. 2 the lost levels and the Nintendo world championship 1990. Are both titles know to have issues or have people found Roms of those two games that work?

Hi there chaps. HELP. I have been trying to do this for hours now, and its driving me crazy haha..

I have dumped the kernel, and when it goes to install the custom kernel it says " the system cannot find the file specified, please try again"

Has anyone managed to get past this stage? I have read all 30 pages, lol.....:(

Hey guys, this is a very noob question, but I have zero programming experience, but NEEED to add games to the Classic. Is this something I could accomplish (for example following the instructional video from earlier on in the thread) or am I just asking to brick my system? Any input is appreciated!

But why? :) What can WinRAR do wrong? Is it mashed up some files or what? I'm using WinRar too without any problems.

I had the same problem as many others here :
Once the custom kernel flashed, the LED kept blinking (~10s on / ~2s off)
And uploading games seemed to work on the computer but the LED never turned off, nothing on the TV screen (black screen) when restarted and I had to put the original kernel to get the system working again.

Unzipping the hakchi2.zip with 7zip solved the problem : I can flash the kernel and after uploading games, the LED turns off after ~10s, retstart the NES mini and the games are on the console.

Thank you for your work and giving everyone the opportunity to add games on the NES mini :toot:
