With all the new exploits and such, last I checked, Nintendo hasn't updated the 3DS since late October. Does Nintendo not care about people having CFW anymore?

Edit: To the moderators - this is the real thread, please don't delete this one.

It's been over 2 months though...
It's been less than a week since the latest serious exploits were released. They fixed waithax before it was even released to the public in usable form. Fasthax and Safehax are both new.

I'm surprised they haven't/hadn't fixed NFIRM downgrading, but they've obviously taken some action there by pulling DSiware games, even fairly recently, though it took them a good long while to do so.

Even though the last update was October recent developments have only surfaced recently. I will admit when HBL was release they made 9.3 ultra fast.

My guess is that with the failed success of things like the wii u and mario run they are more worried about making sure the switch is going to do well

2 months without update and you say nintendo doesn't care?
PSP had a new firmware after 3 years without software update. :)

Maybe because the PS Vita was out? and even if it wasn't, I don't think Sony cares at all about portable gaming, the PS Vita is a failure, but I'm not sure how the PSP turned out, they also had the PS3 to work on.

At this point with bootloader being expoited and the ability to sign our own stuff, it's basically end game. Nintendo can only really try to prevent newer users from hoping on, but we are at the point where we can have a completely custom firmware like the PSP has, instead of our "CFW" which can be thought to be more like a program that runs in the background that merely patches parts of the firmware, instead of an actual fully custom firmware. And with only a hardware revision being the fix, along with the fact that Switch is coming in just a few months, we'll probably just see a few more "stability" updates to remove our new kernel exploits. But I feel with the bootloader compromised they will probably start to abandon it like they did the wii. Too much work for something that won't even make much difference.

Preventing more systems from being exploited is the goal, and they can definitely plug the holes that we are currently using. It's not like the PSP where you can literally sign homebrew and the game is over. Sighax would still require NAND access, meaning if they can prevent us from getting it (fixing fasthax or safehax and fixing NFIRM downgrades would be likely things to happen eventually) they would essentially lock us down to finding new exploits or hardmodding.

Daily reminder that this was doable ever since arm9loaderhax was released. Primary reason why this hasn't been done is because it would require reimplementing all of the 3DS system services. (For a similar example, see wine.)

The only real advantages sighax provides over A9LH right now is there's no need for OTP and you can make use of the full FIRM partition to store a payload, whereas with A9LH the FIRM partitions must contain the original 3DS firmware.

EDIT: From what I understand, PSP "CFWs" are merely pre-patched versions of the original PSP OS, rather than something written from the ground up. In that case, the difference would be Luma patches the OS on the fly, which is probably a better method anyway because it enables compatibility with multiple versions.

Sighax would still require NAND access, meaning if they can prevent us from getting it (fixing fasthax or safehax and fixing NFIRM downgrades would be likely things to happen eventually) they would essentially lock us down to finding new exploits or hardmodding.
The vulnerability used for hardmod downgrades (known plaintext attack) would work with sighax, so a hardmod can be used to install sighax on any system.

Yeah, they've lost that battle (or will have whenever sighax is implemented publicly) but not a lot of people are willing to open and solder their 3DS to hack it compared to the software exploits that they can continue to patch.

If you don't think 11.3 will drop soon, you're crazy.
no stopping a9lh will be a big deal, they will need to change so much they will likely release it as 12.0

Yeah thats going to happen no matter what. No nintendo system is safe!
no console is safe . . . i remember when the ps3 was "100% unhackable !" . . . until geohot spent a single month with one . . .
