Hello. Early today i began to mod my 2ds and added the soundhax homebrew installer. After i did that i rebooted and my top screen zoomed and shifted. I tried formatting the system and removing the battery pack. Please help. Pic VERY related

Would that roll me back? If so it might not help because a backup was created after the screw-up for an odd reason
The backup would have to be from before you started to install Soundhax for it to work. So if you dont have that, then im out of ides, sorry.

I think it's 2.1.0-35U. So im just screwed? Any suggestions?
You can try to start a cartrige game and upgrade from there. Not sure if that would help thou. Or if that is even possible the be frank. The 2DS isnt meant tp have FW 2.1 so to upgrade from it could cause some bugs i guess.

It states in 3ds.guide NOT to format your 2DS, otherwise this will happen.
You cannot complete the setup, so you'll have to have a backup from before you formatted.

Can anyone say if using a cart update and that special key combination to skip setup works?

You have screwed yourself over big time and only a hardmod+NAND backup can save you.

How can they start up a cartridge when they can't get passed the inital startup?

It would be in Plailect's guide if it did.

Shoulda never formatted bud, real bad idea.
I'm guessing you never got to install A9LH?
Only thing to do now is hardmod it and restore it using a NAND backup from before downgrading to 2.1. (assuming you have one)

You can't even do that if they can't pass the setup.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
