I got a Sony 4K Smart TV and I was wondering if I could sideload APK's so I can use Showbox and emulators. Also will a Keyboard and Mouse work? Just for the web browser. My Xbox 360 controller works on it. Thanks.

Pretend you're running a regular android device. :P Sideloading will surely work and I don't see why your keyboard or mouse wouldn't either!

Yep, the mouse and keyboard work. I'm going to try installing an APK.

It says "file cannot be opened" when downloading an apk.

Huh that's really weird. Maybe it doesn't support the version of Android it's running?

I doubt it. Sony probably blocked APKs from being installed. So you would need to root it somehow. I found a solution for watching movies at least, showbox on my phone then screen mirror to the TV.

Didn't get an Android TV yet, but if the app is compatible for android tv OS you shouldn't have a problem to install it: use play store directly or dropbox/ES file explorer to access your APK.

On the casting topic, you should give it a try to BubbleUpnp app, it's brilliant with streaming - definitively worth the money. Instead of mirroring and draining the battery of your device it sends the local/streaming link the TV via BubbleUpnp.

There is plenty of information on the topic online.
