Mine came with 11.0 its really just a crap shoot
I was worried when I originally bought it. It was a replacement for my other Japanese console that was ruined when body wash spilled on it in my bag. If it had 11.0 on it I would of had to send to to someone for a hardmod.

Mine was not shipped from amazon. It was shipped from a store in Yokohama so it's possible they just have older stock. Maybe that's something to consider when buying a console.

I order from play asia and amazon jp. Primary order white ll, blue ll and other limited edition ones

Depends on how many you order, shipping prices and current exchange rate. They average about $20 less from amazon

What fw was the blue one you ordered, and when did you order it?

You would need for it to be new and have it never access the eshop to work flawlessly with a region swap. For that to happen, you would need to find on that is on or below 10.7 or above 8.1 (its easier to work with a 9.0+ console).

The fact that it has never accessed the eShop before doesn't guarantee an 100% chance of doing a full swap. Apparently consoles that come with a predownloaded game like tomodachi life for example will be screwed over. Worst part is that they're shutting down freeshop too.... =\

@Ronhero

Is a region swapped 3ds 100% a target region console now or are there still aspects of the console that don't behave properly(aka system transfers, formatting, online play, local play, anything)?

I do believe you can play games online without region issues, but eShop is region-locked on server end.

Theres an actual work around to that:

https://gist.github.com/yifanlu/e80db121d38aceb8cca0e03cefd5853b There is no need for NTR or those commands, from the GitHub, anymore. Just port my patches https://github.com/yifanlu/3ds_inje...8eeb9081289e74cb0cc1bb57a895/source/patcher.c to luma3ds. Or if you don't care about piracy, use https://github.com/yifanlu/Cosmo3DS whose sole purpose is to support region changed eshop (provided you already transferred your nnid through https://gist.github.com/yifanlu/e80db121d38aceb8cca0e03cefd5853b)

Just gotta get that patch luma somehow as stated (if trying to do a system transfer) or just use Cosmo which I haven't tested myself.

System transfer and the eShop won't work unless you do what I said above or unless you're one of the few that actually managed to do a 100% system transfer with plailect. When I say manage I mean that it may not actually work (some say that it's because of previously installed content like, as I said before, Tomodachi life) as it's even stated in the guide "Note that occasionally the eShop will inexplicably still not work for devices that it should work for." A work around for that would be the freeshop app but it's getting taken down...

Everything you mentioned can work, system transfer is tricky but can work. I'll go into detail tomorrow about to go to bed

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at importing a metallic blue 3DS XL NTSC from Japan to use here in North America, and play North American backups.

I've successfully put CFW on a North American 2DS without any complications and it's working great, but can I follow Plialect's 3ds guide again for the exact same process on an imported Japanese 3DS?

Will there be any region issues or complications? Anything I should watch out for? I'm assuming that because the 3DS XL is brand new, the firmware should be hackable still... can anyone confirm?

Thanks in advance!
If you want it because it's metallic blue, there is NA version of it,exclusive for middle east and Singapore/Malaysia market.
it's actually US console,i don't know why Nintendo didn't release it for USA.

Edit:why you want to swap the region of NTSC console? It's already American region.
Unless you are getting the Japanese version of that 3DS.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
