Hey guys hopefully someone can help me I had arm9 install on my old 3ds I was playing a game via download play and when I restarted arm9 is gone. No internet connection just restarted and gone.

I'm now on from what I can tell 11.1 official. FBI, Luma and all my apps installed are still there but cannot be launched.

Is there anything I can do to get it back to arm9.

If you hold select at boot what happens?

Could you try pushing select when booting your 3DS?
If I remember correctly, 3DS download play can force an update on GW 3ds, which remove A9LH in the process.

A9LH doesn't just magically disappear. It's impossible for that to happen. Whatever you did to unistall it, just come out and say it so we can actually help you. otherwise, you need to downgrade again.

Yea select does nothing now. And I was in gateway mode. I thought no matter what arm9 was supposed to stay as it was at boot. But guess not.

Guess I'm gonna have to redowngrade is there any easy way since I had arm9 /all files backed up/set up. Or do I need the dsiware/hardmod.

dsiware or hardmod. (hopefully you have purchased one of the exploitable dsiwares before they were pulled, otherwise, hardmod)

If you run on something without FIRM0/1 protection such as Gateway A9LH loader, it's the same as menuhax, or worst on N3DS (Brick for sure).

Only DSiware hax using 2nd 3DS or hardmod. Since you didn't prepare DSiwarehax before this happen.

OK I do have a second 3ds arm9 but I thought all dsiware was pulled? Guess I'll have to downgrade. Do I need a nand backup? I believe I still have 4.5 nand somewhere. Plus I think I had one when I did arm9.

Nope unfortunately Gateway couldn't be bothered to protect the firms [where the a9lh is installed]; had you had a n3ds it would be bricked. You're going to need to dsiware/hardmod downgrade to at least 9.2 unless you injected a failsafe in ds-settings [which you most likely didn't]

Gateway mode does not have firm protection. If you update in Gateway mode you will either lose a9lh or brick. You're lucky it did the former!

Important Note: Never update your SysNAND in Gateway Mode. It does not matter what Launcher.dat version you use, if you go ahead and update while in SysNAND Mode, you will either brick or lose A9LH+CFW and be on the latest stock firmware. This is because GW Mode does not offer FIRM protection in A9LH. Updating your GW EmuNAND is fine and safe, and is what Gateway actually recommends you do and use even when using A9LH.
If you are a SysNAND-Only User, perform any System Updates while using//booting Luma3DS.

Now you can use some of DSiware to do downgrade by using App replace method (For example, buying Faceez and replace it with SUDOKU files).
But those method don't work with slowhax.
You don't need any back up unless the process is mess up some way. Those back up can help you recovery using hardmod.

I think he doesn't know that GW doesn't have firm protection + Download play can cause force updating.
Also I don't think he knows that A9LH can be remove without firm protection too.

Haha well good to know now guess I'm gonna be downgrading luckily it didn't brick. What is this fail-safe I would like to set it up for my other 3ds. When I first did arm9 never saw any mention about it.

Ok well thanks everyone gonna do some research on which method is easier hardmod or dsiware. :) I'm prob leaning to hardmod if I don't need to use NAND bckup. Don't want to guess which one it was lol I have many backups from about 5 different 3ds lol. I think I know which one but not 100% sure.

Well it was also the fact that both 3ds were on same firmware so I didn't think download play would do anything both running gateway mode and arm9. Didn't know that arm9 could be overwritten becuse of gateway mode.

No biggie lesson learned now time to downgrade :)

Can't find the thread, so will need someone to confirm I'm not seeing/imagining things but it's essentially just installing the mset exploit via a9lh payloads. And I'm sure the exploit survives updates; intentional or not

Not sure but I saw someone suggest me to install & keep DSiwarehax as a back up. So I still keep LOE with exploit save in my NAND.
