I've got a legit console on 11.2 that I intend to dsiware system transfer to before cfwing etc. Can I take a sysnand backup of it's current nand to restore post a9lh/luma? Want to keep all the saves etc if possible. I've got a 11.2 ninjhax entrypoint of course.

If I'm not mistaken JKs save manager works on 11.2

you can't do a nand backup from 11.2 ninjhax. however, there is a dsi downgrade tool called "fwtool" that can backup and restore nand backups. You just replace the boot.nds with the one from "fwtool", and that will be launched instead of dgTool. then when it is done backing up, you replace the boot.nds from dgTool, run the dsi ware, and do the dsi downgrade.

When you do the downgrade I'm pretty sure the process involves dumping the nand patching in an old native firm and rewriting it. So you will have a clean nand dump by the time you are ready to flash the device at all.

that used to be how it was done. Now the native_firm can be directly dumped and injected in the dsiware using dgTool.

That won't be very useful for him though, as by the time he has dsiwarehax set up on the target console, the console is already wiped by system transfer.

Interesting. Does system transferring overwrite the nand on the target system? I mean, in order for me to get fwtool on the target system to perform a backup I assumed I would have already wiped the target?

Yes that's right. It will be too late to get a backup of the NAND. In addition to:
The only two ways to do what you intend are:
- Creating a NAND Backup through Hardmod
-Using JKSaveManager in homebrew launcher to keep your save files
You could also have a spare console and transfer to it first, then do the DSiWare downgrade, then transfer back. This way all your system saves like Mii Plaza and Activity Log will be retained (and your game saves - means you don't have to try to find a way to use homebrew I'm order to back them up with JKSM).
