My old PS3 with CFW is overheating, but my roommate has an extra PS3 he might part with.

Is there any way to hack the new one using the old one? Is it as simple as inserting the hard drive, or do I have to jailbreak it all over again?

Exploits? Yeah, but I think the k-exploit is the one that is about to be released. Don't take my word for it all I know is that people have the k-exploit on 4.05 and below.

Ever thought of replacing the thermal paste and thermal pads on the RSX and CPU? You can also clean out some dust and if you're adventurous drill a few holes in the case at certain locations in an attempt to improve airflow. You could also upgrade the fans and even if you haven't you can use webman to raise the fanspeed to prevent an overheat. What I'm getting at is that it's not the end of the world. You can still squeeze some life outta that pstriple yet.
