I just had the following idea: Injecting a exploitable Wii game like Super Smash Bros. Brawl into, for example, Super Mario Galaxy from the Virtual Console could we use the exploit in Wii mode? Could this possibly lead to loading Wii homebrew in Wii U mode? (Maybe injecting the Open Homebrew Channel?)

Are there any potential risks involved (bricking)? Has anyone tried this?

Firstly we don't have a clue on injecting.
Second it won't help as it would only exploit OSv1 not OSv0 (vWii) or OSv10 (Wii U mode). Since it only exploits OSv1 it would still be loading wii homebrew in vWii.
Third if you need a homebrew entry point that is offline use Haxchi

As for risk the only I can think of is bricking OSv1.

I think you are confusing the main focus here.
He wants to inject an exploitable Wii title into Wii VC due to the Gamepad-> CCP option.

If we grab, let's say, Xenoblade as the base Wii VC and inject an exploitable game like one of the Lego games or Twilight Princess (because Brawl is way too big for my liking in 8GB), then we would be able to run the Homebrew Channel WITH gamepad as the main controller.

He doesn't want the Homebrew Launcher (Wii U), he wants to be able to use the Gamepad inside the Homebrew Channel (Wii)

If we ever figure out how to inject wii games we would just directly inject wii games and homebrew.

The first point is a pretty good one. ;)

Would exploiting OSv1 be good enough to run a Homebrew game? This is more about doing something cool than hacking the vWii. I've got Haxchi, Homebrew Launcher Channel and Homebrew Channel installed, so that's not the thing. :)

OSv0 and OSv1, those are the two titles that couldn't be backed up when dumping the IOSes of the vWii?

If we ever figure out how to inject wii games we would just directly inject wii games and homebrew.
We don't yet, we might be able to just completely ditch the whole Wii game and simply inject the HBC boot.dol into it, but if not then we would have to go down the Wii exploitable game injection route and go from there.
People have already started peeking at the Wii VC titles and their format, I can be sure that it will come eventually.

The possibilities... injecting forwarders for the original Wii and launching USBloader CFG, for example.

OSv1 might be enough to run homebrew but it might not have sd card access.
It can read OSv0 because it uses the saves of your discs. (or at least thats what people say)
OSv1 is complete separate from OSv0 (vWii) so dumping vWii info with only give you OSv0. You can likely dump OSv1 with iosuhax however

Or even better yet just make forwarders for directly booting a game

Thanks for the insight. :) Forwarders for directly booting a game wouldn't be my cup of tea, considering the Wii Us 300 title limit.

Well i have about 254 titles installed. Around 140 eshop/vc yet ready to install. Since the limit is 300 and you can't plug 2 Hard drive in the console i was looking myself for a solution. Someone tell me to try to put some games on the HDD and install the rest on a different hdd. It could work. But is the nand will detect 300 save? I am not 100% sure. Also one things is making me sad, if you change the HDD or power on the Wiiu without the HDD the games will be no longer in the folder you set. So switching between drive is an issue for people like me who want to see overall in folder the games and find it fast.

Edit 1: Region free include : I got around 400 titles

Edit 2: I wil test later but you could put 2 drive but one is not usable, just usable for copy or move games. Not a good idea if you want to play big games. Around 900 go used on an 2TB Seagate expension wall power

How do you have so many titles? The entire wii u collection of good games is like 200.
VC injects are crap and you should use retroarch instead. Way better.

If you create one folder for each drive it should work. And the savegames will be on the same drives as the games, anyways.

Oh realy ? thanks for the info! I Realy appreciate, didnt expect that easy !
Yes, but don't mess around with the folders when the drives are not connected. The Wii U reacts in a bad way to it: delete the folder or drop something new into it and you will have to sort all games again. And you can have only 60 games per folder, so you'll probably have to create multiple folders per drive.

Well i am not using the Vc injects but VC and eshop titles/CFw content. If you go under USA on USBHelper, you will get around 400 titles. Without CFW you can get around 120 legit titles while some are missing. With eshop you get alot and considering 10 old mario bros games or about 10 titles of Megamen it jump fast over 300 titles :) i may be wrong since i dont count them everyday cause i always add some games while eshop is updating and uploading games every week or so

That what i thought! Thanks for the advice again ! I need to sort all this now ! Lets have fun ( or not) !

Regarding the topic, have anyone though about the new hack of Vwii without games? If you can inject a dol and redirect it on Vwii on Mii, with a different elf, would it be possible like hachi to load an quick file to access to wii games from usb? As somes people are currently injecting N64 games with fake TMD and title.tik it would be possible maybe later to pack an ISO/wbfs under an game.app like the WIIU GAMES are currently using. I am not a developper but its an theory like others, should we investigate every theory after we found that brazilian exploit was not that hard to achieve afterall?

Creating the wad file for Wii:
--------------------------------------
How to make the custom channel wad file?
--------------------------------------------------------
GetMyBanner v2.1 is a Windows tool to download and make the wad files using the banners in my repository
http://www.mediafire.com/download/v7lu11ulso1aa5d/GetMyBanner-2.1.rar

It has a base wad
wget to download the bnr files
sharpii to extract and pack the wad
customizeMii mod to make the wad ready for both Wii and vWii
titles.txt with all available ID3 and ID6
How to use it:
1. Download and extract the rar file
2. Run _GetMyBanner.bat
3. Type the game's ID3 (ex: GAF for animal crossing, GSM for Mario Sunshine...)
4. Press (Enter/F6/Enter)
5. The bnr file will get downloaded and checked
6. It will get renamed to 00000000.app and a custom channel wad will be made using the downloaded file
7. You'll automatically get a wad channel which gets automatically opened using Customiizemii mod
8. under options tab type a new unique "title id" and insert nintendont autoboot dol in "New DOL/Browse"

I Know that you can make custom banner too for Vwii with that program. I think it could be a idea to investigate or even find a way to export it to wiiu! The format 000000.app is already know and used by games on wiiu at the moment. Any idea. May be a wrong find! I apologize if my theory are crazy :P

Huh? Wasn't aware of any limits to be honest. Please keep us updated on how many titles you proceeded to have installed at the same time.
