Not only for this game, also for other games. Read the URL, it's about gateway, but also counts for pirating early copies etc.
That's not the question. I'm saying that there are two types or ban here (002-0102 and 022-2812 at the same time) in most of cases, if not all.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I kinda feel nervous now :vv ive been online Pokemon Sun a few times, but nothing as of yet.. I guess I won't go online till the 23rd (Europe release), if I went online 18th onwards (before 23rd) would I be inclined to a ban do you think?
But if I imported a cartridge from Japan or USA, I could legally play it on 18th as a European. So dont you think, that it should be safe for a European to go online on 18th with the eshop preload and the correct seed?

OK so reporting in:

EU N3DS without NNID (NNID:00000000)
accessed Festival Plaza on Pokemon Sun for 5minutes and got Error 002-0102

E-Shop access is still fine and turning console on and off doesnt change that fact
Only thing blocked for me is the ability to play online

It cant be a MAC level ban tho since they wouldve blocked eShop aswell
So my question is how the fk are they blocking someone with no NNID when he isnt MAC-banned? lmao

EDIT: Accessing NNID settings isnt blocked and I could create a NNID if I wanted to. This is weird

I have been reported of the other side: a person banned from eshop, but not for games. It's strange, afaik they did two bans at the same time to every 3DS that played S/M online

Wait 15 days. If your still banned, then yes, it is permanent it seems.
Thanks, bud.

Damn. I regret every second of being online I spent at the Festival Plaza.

I guess I have to buy a brand-new 3DS.

Theoretically, my banned 3DS is not restricted from trading over some genned mons to a brand-new, non-pirated 3DS no?

@linuxares the dev just ends up at 0

it's no worse than if you pirated
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
it's probably better, because not all keys on key sites are stolen
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
plus piracy is not always an option
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i heard a related story for a dev actually

    from a dev*
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
DRMs are getting stronger these days
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they bought their own game on a key site and checked where they came from and it turned out they were review copies he had given out by email to someone
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    *all* of them
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no storefront I'm aware of (at least on pc) requires the devs to pay for the keys they generate
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
they don't lose money doing this, even if someone decide to chargeback
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so that seems to be a pretty common thing, i kinda blame the dev for that one though as they were giving out like 5 keys to someone just because they asked for multiple copies for review for whatever reason and there were multiple people doing this. he should've seen the red flags
