I have backups of my saves from retails carts in a .sav format - how can I inject these into CIA installs? Do I need to convert them to be compatible with JK's Save Manager? I am unable to rip some of the saves again, so I need a method that specifically works for .sav files, thanks.

You need them. JKSM can extract saves from cartridges (in the same format as ones from cia games, then they can be injected into the installed games) but only if the cartridge is inserted.

So currently there's no way to inject .sav files into a CIA or covert them to be compatible? :(

You could always buy the game from a shop that has a good return policy. Or, go to a pawn shop and ask if you can play a game for a few mins to see if you like it.

I don't think that'd really work + it wouldn't have my data on the carts >_<

Do you know if anyone's currently working on a converter?

But if the save data was stored on the cart then wouldn't you not have a .sav file? Only Pokémon and Animal Crossing saves to the cart as far as I'm aware.

What you're thinking of is a bit different.
Most/all cartridges save to chips on the cart itself, as has been tradition for decades. Pokemon and Animal Crossing save to the ROM itself, which is what differentiates them.

If you use JKSM(to extract from the Retail cart) you can inject them into the Cia after you install them,
Just note, when you go into the part where you inject saves into your Legit digital games, hit refresh games if they don't show up

Sorry, I think there's been some confusion. Here's the situation:

I purchased the R4i save dongle and backed up all my saves from my retail carts (to .sav files). I then got rid of the carts and purchased a Sky3DS (to save me having to carry my carts around) and thinking it'd be compatible with the saves, turns out it isn't. I've now moved from Sky3DS to CFW and am hoping that I can now inject those .sav files into my installed (CIA) games - is there any way for me to do this?

Do you know how to extract .sav from a Sky 3ds, or is that the prob?

Like I said, forget Sky3DS, I was never able to get my saves on there. My question is simple, I'm looking for a way to inject .sav files into installed games (cias).
Look dude, you cant. As far as i know most homebrew save managers use .bins, just look around for a converter or an old save manager that runs off of .savs- however i doubt theyre out there

That's a shame but thank you. If anyone does know of a way to covert the files, please let me know!
