Well this is what Google Translate made it don't blame me. Also know matter where you find it I doubt someone will do this. The official PS3 hacking page I got this from has the exact same directions as me. Russian is a very hard language to learn.

My goal is to report on news. I am a lucky CFW user so i don't even have a OFW to test this on. Also many users has confirmed this working. You are just unlucky. If I did it or not has nothing to do with this. I am just saying not to blame me I only report news. If you guys are seriously having problems and don't like this then stop bumping the damn thread.

Well it is unfortunate, but there aren't a lot of scene people who aren't lazy and know Russian to completely translate this. If any full English guide comes in I will make sure to report on it. Until then everyone please refrain from bumping this thread.

I'm upgrading my PS3 to 4.70 tonight, but I won't have time to do the hex editing and all of that needed. I also assume this requires a game already be installed in the backup, which I have FF7 digitally downloaded from PSN so we will see if it works once I have time to edit the game dump I'm grabbing.

Edit: Well I got my PS3 upgraded to 4.70 from 4.6, but I don't have a drive big enough to backup. I'm partitioning out an external drive now but it's going to take a while since it's probably fragmented. I'll hopefully be able to backup tomorrow night and play around with the hex editing stuff from the guide.

Trie this thing

This method needs two units of PS3 the CFW as the master and OFW as the target.

1. downloadhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4B...ew?usp=sharing
2. extract it to C:, it will be PS3>Game Convert>Convert.bat and make_npdata.exe
3. copy any PS3_GAME that have LICDIR folder in it, if it doesn't have then you have to find it yourself with LICDIR Generàtor onlinehttp://jonnysp.bplaced.net/lic.php#
4. paste it inside Game Convert folder, it will be PS3_GAME, Convert.bat, make_npdata.exe
5. double click Convert.bat, type NPxxxxxx, these x are your retail game id. for instance, the game id is BLES12345, then you must type NPEB12345.
6. wait untill it finishes its job
7. make a glass of hot cocoa
8. when it's done, you can see a new folder exist.
9. downloadthe patch updàte for that game (BLES12345) and extract it. put the eboot.bin out of it. place it in NPEB12345/USRDIR/
10. create a folder named TEST on an external HDD (FAT 32)
11. copy NPEB12345 and BLES12345 (the extracted patch update), paste it into folder TEST.
12. on PS3 CFW 4.81, copy the two files into dev_hdd0/game..
13. do Rebuild Database
14. the game will be shown in XMB
15. turn on PS3 OFW 4.81 and plug an ethernet cable and connect it to PS3 CFW one.
16. on CFW, go to Settings> System Settings> Data Transfer Utitlity> pick number 1> say no> say no> waiting for transfer> enter
17. on OFW do the same way, but pick number 2, just wait till it gets questions for asking to format, hit yes and yes.
18. and transferring, happy waiting
19. drink your no longer hot cocoa
20. profit

This method doesn't rely on two PS3 systems (like your guide does). Have you figured out how to do this with a single PS3 (not multiple)?

There's two different methods and it seems everyone is getting confused between them:

1. 4.70 - Inject games via PC to OFW Backup and restore back to original PS3
2. 4.81 - Take a CFW Backup from second PS3, work some inject magic on PC and then restore backup to OFW PS3

Yes, given that you trust the source of said CFW backup. It would have to be a backup from a CFW PS3, not an image of the CFW itself (I don't know much about PS3 hacking beyond this very thread).

Yes a backup. Homebrew won't work though.

I also just got my backup from 4.70 and am going to try the inject method on Tales of Symphonia Complete. Will report back with my findings.

I'm testing a few backups myself, but I suggest you keep the original tutorial up alongside this tutorial, but just move the pkgviewer section of it so it's with the update section.
