If you have installed SMChax and it works on 11.1, then if you do a system update (to 11.2, the latest version), then SMChax will still work.

That being said, there's no need to update if you already have access to an entrypoint like SMChax on 11.1 or 11.0, just use ctr-httpwn to access online without having to update your 3DS.

What is SMCHax?

I'm not trying to be rude. It's usually common sense to Google search something before asking. I used Google to find that link. Go ahead and call me rude, though. I honestly don't care.

This is what the noobs of the temp do to people..

Ok, so I tried to update my hax on my cartridge... using my 9.2 o3ds. Couldn't get it to work, it either told me I need a higher firmware to access internet to RUN it, or when I try to enter it via homebrew (using the "use out of country game" option) still froze. I then tried to run the NEW version of it to install that just straight from homebrew onto the cart...and it would freeze still. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. :-/

On this page, it says that it won't work on system menu versions lower than 9.9 (for USA and JPN regions), and so you won't be able to run the game at all on 9.2.

I don't really understand what you mean by "I then tried to run the NEW version of it to install that just straight from homebrew onto the cart".

Have you tried just reinstalling the hax from a another entrypoint? This may work, though it'smore likely that you'll have to find a homebrew-ready 3DS on a system version from 9.9-11.0.

I haven't because it wasn't an issue until now :(

So...now I have absolutely no idea what to do.

You "haven't" what? Tried reinstalling the hax?

Try reinstalling SMChax with browserhax or another entrypoint. If the installer can't load (on 9.2), then your only option is to find another 3DS on a compatible system version.

I haven't tried reinstalling from another entry point. I didn't realize that I could use browserhax to re-install it >.> I've forgotten how to get INTO browser hax from my modded system. I'm sorry I'm so dense, like I've said previously, quite a bit of this is over my head.

By "modded system", do you mean that you have CFW installed? Do you have an updated Emu/RedNAND?

I only have my one o3ds modded back to 9.2 , CFW is what again? And I thought I had installed a way to access the internet so I could scan QR codes from it. :-/

CFW is Custom FirmWare, which you can install if you have a 3DS on 9.2 (or that you can downgrade to 9.2).

At any rate, I believe your only options are to try to use browserhax, or to find another 3DS on 9.9-11.0 that you can use to reinstall SMChax.

I"ll ask the guy who helped me set it up via PM if we did do CFW on my system to hardmod it back to 9.2, cuz it was higher originally when I got it.

Still apprently games can detect if they are running on the latest native firm or not now? Both pirate pop and the new ACNL update don't boot with a custom firmware.bin. just something to not, since I'm assuming all future games will be like this.

Basehax doesn't work.
You posted this in the basehaxx thread as well, if you bothered to read the most recent page of that thread, you would have seen a link to this tweet by MrNbaYoh, with a new installer for basehaxx that works on 11.1 and 11.2, as well as instructions on how to use it. You need to direct the installer to PokéBank in the homebrew launcher, due to the implementation of PASLR for OR/AS.

Also, people can't really help you if all you say is "doesn't work"; you need to say how and when basehaxx (or anything else) doesn't work. Does it not work when trying to install it, or when trying to run the entrypoint itself? How exactly does it 'not work'? Do you get a red screen? A yellow screen? Try to give details when you have issues in the future.

So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
