Hey Guys,

someone explained me how to get a EmuNAND/redNAND to work on WiiU but it doesn't work really well.
I used a fw.img to dump the NAND of my WiiU like on the Screenshot
nandundsfk76.jpg

After around an hour I got this error message: "GURU MEDITATION ERROR (data abort) 11C3B558"
thisxhzuq.jpg

I've a black WiiU (5.5.1, EUR, 32GB).

I used a SanDisk Ultra 64GB SD Card (Class 10)
SANDISK-Ultra%C2%AE--64-GB

Formatted like my mate told me: "create a 22GB FAT32 primary partition (cluster size should be 64kb) at the front of your SD card. The rest of the space should be unallocated."

Is there a way to get a RedNAND/EmuNAND to work on my SD Card?
Guru meditation error means the NAND dump is done.

Presumably you'll get bad reads from different sectors of the nand. the solution to this on the xbox was to dump multiple times and then with these multiple images do a N-way comparison and create one (hopefully) clean image.

surprised no ones tried this tbh

Someone mentioned a IRC chan following progress for SALT. Is this channel public? Want to idle there. If anyone could respond please and thank you.

Iriez of XH fame? :)

Anyway, I think they made that IRC channel invite only because they didnt like things in the public eye.

Not a bad idea, better to do development work in peace and quiet. Yes, the iriez of Xbins/Xbox-scene.

Looking to get xbins up to speed with the nintendo side of things. We are really lacking in that department and its exciting to see good progress on the Wii-U. If anyone has any SALT IRC info, please PM me.

So i'm waiting until things get settled down on the scene to do anything to my wiiU. Hoping people start making comprehensive tut's for the hax, and some of my options are past 'Beta/experimental/only-4-3leet-users' type status. (only thing I have installed is an external HDD on the vwii side with bathax on it)

I'm still running the WiiU with 1.5 FW version or something. Anywho, my old 64GB ubs flash drive crapped out on me so I was about to order a replacement. So I have a purchase question regarding the IOSU/rednand/brazillhax stuff that is available/incoming:

Will I need to get a large USB thumb drive, or an SD card in order to load/play games from? Or both?? (8GB wii edition, if that matters)

Thanks!

Take a ~16GB Sd, and a big 500GB/1TB Hard drive. The SD is just to "copy" your games to USB from your Wii U

So all the current/upcoming hacks going to need the games to be fully installed on the WiiU's internal memory? I didn't really want to have two normal HDD's attached to it. I won't be able to load/install games to a 64/128GB thumb drive and play from there? (or bypass installing the WiiU's internal harddrive space like how a Gatewaycard does with its Emunand?)

Nope, you can install games to an USB drive fine. BTW, I was wrong about the SD, you're going to need a 64GB SD to install redNAND on it

Well, shoot. Was hoping to not need multiple drives, but at least they're mostly cheap. How much space is the reNAND expected to take up? Once installed, would it be better to install games to THAT rednand SD, or off a USB flash drive? Or maybe I don't understand and the SD card isn't meant to host/store games on. (like I said, was waiting for a complete tut/explanation thread once this train gets up to speed.) ;-)

You don't need multiple USB drives. As for the redNAND, it'll take 22GB on the SD. You'll have to install them on the USB drive. i PM'd you a link to a tutorial to do everything.

lol you still on 1.5 Firmware? it's gonna be hilarious if/when Nintendo releases 5.5.2 or 5.6 and patches all these exploits and you wont be able to hack your console just because you retardedly stuck with an outdated firmware.

Is there a way to get a RedNAND/EmuNAND to work on my SD Card?

In case you, or anyone else that have problems, want to try again:
I use the same SD card and the first dump works well. The difference is before dumping NAND, instead of 22 GB (about 22,528 MB) I only created 20,020 MB FAT32 primary partition with default cluster size (like 16kb) by using the following command with in the MS command window (running with the administrator right):

Code:
diskpart
list volume
select volume x <-- replace x with the right number for your SD card shown in that volume list
delete volume <-- make sure you are deleting the right one
list disk <-- just for checking
create partition primary size=20020 <-- in MB
list volume
format fs=fat32 quick <-- default cluster size
list volume <-- just for checking again
exit

The reason I put about 19 GB instead of 22 GB because I saw the following part in the 0x10700000.s file from the code repository of iosuhax in github:

Code:
USB_BASE_SECTORS equ (0x2720000)
SLC_BASE_SECTORS equ (0x2F20000)
SLCCMPT_BASE_SECTORS equ (0x3020000)
MLC_BASE_SECTORS equ (0x3200000)
SYSLOG_BASE_SECTORS equ (0x6D00000)
DUMPDATA_BASE_SECTORS equ (SYSLOG_BASE_SECTORS + (0x40000 / 0x200))

The smallest base sector shown as 0x27200000 (the code may need to read starting at that sector in the SD card) = 0x27200000 (sector) / 0x2 (sector per KB) / 0x400 (KB per MB) / 0x400 (MB per GB) about 0x13 GB or about 19.56 GB (20,032 MB). And with a typically 1 MB offset in the creation of partition, to be on the safe side, I just put the size as 20,020 MB or about 19.5 GB. Hope this helps, and let me know whether this works or not for you.

Cheers.
