Shield tablet is $200 here: https://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-SHIELD-K1-Tablet-Black/dp/B0171BS9CG/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
I agree with the dock costing $50, that's assuming there's no extra hardware in there besides TV out and power. I added $50 extra for the JoyCon, but that might be overestimating it. If the JoyCon has accelerometers/gyros in both halves then $50 is probably not too far off.
It wasn't my intention to brag. As a handheld console it'll be way better than either the 3DS or Vita, and will be impressive compared to them, and to everyone who's used to current handhelds (but maybe not as much when compared to flagship phones/tablets), that's all I meant. It might fail to impress as a home console though.
One thing to note that PSV is trying to be a portable home console when there is the ps4 or even the ps3. Nintendo don't have the same competing with own product problem. Also the switch could possibly destroyed the mobile range of performance.

That and you don't have to buy a separate $99.99 box to make it compatible with play on television

You people shouldn't expect as much power as a ps4, the eurogamer rumor was true, as well as Emily Rogers and nwplayer123, the two Last people are claiming it will be weaker than an Xbox one, and it doesn't seem an external gpu on The dock, it might be overclocked on dock mode at best, I don't want to have a Wii u portable with almost the same power as a 360, at least I want a 500 gigaflops console, if it has a 1/3 power of an Xbox one you should expect graphical levels of Wii u games, and with the game footage of the switch there is not Xbox one level of graphics, if this is the case it might be stupid selling this console at ps4 price($300)

You are suggesting all tablets deserve terrible sales

Well windows phone doesn't sell well because of it's brand and features, a nintendo tablet with android will not sell well for the same reason, anyway this is not a tablet, it's more a dedicate game console, it might have it's niche if the price is right, I remember how many people bitch about it with the 3ds being sold at $250, it skyrocket when it was sold at $170, so the price matters if you compare them with the competition

the important thing is that nintendo switch will not be region lock :grog: if the nintendo switch will be hacked in future, we will be able ti play all switch games without region lock:yay:

I don't get this. One of the bigger reasons 3ds is hacked is due to region lock.

Any reliable sources on that?

It's not unheard of for RAM to be soldered onto the same board. That's what's been happening lately on smaller laptops.
Thats what i meant. It confused me when he said RAM integrated onto the motherboard.

There will be price drops early on if it doesn't sell well at full price, but I really don't think the starting price will be any less than $350-$400. Not with the kind of specs I'm expecting from it. It might not be a full on Tegra X2 but I'm expecting somewhere inbetween X1 and X2 at the least. Shield tablet with Tegra K1 is $200, so add $100 for better specs and another $50-100 for the dock and JoyCon. Seems like a reasonable price for getting the full home console experience on a handheld. Even if it is the Nintendo home console experience (given their history of underpowered consoles) there's no doubt that games will look amazing on the handheld.
At that cost who will buy it? Why buy that when you could buy a 4K console that you know has definite support? think.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Tegra k1 is $300 and $400 with 32GB and LTE. The switch definitely won't need top of the line assembly (and being hard to fix) as it is rather thick and have space for everything, no need for extreme thermal designs thanks to a rather large vent and the smaller screen also gives lower prices. I think the dock can be managed with at most $50.
Nvidia is somewhat underhanded as AMD provide both better visual and less lagging even at a lower fps with the same setting, but keep bragging about it. This is due to pascal using a more mobile focused api that sometimes lag more. But with NX, it is perfect to rival Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Pro, like how 1060 is potentially as good as rx 480.
Dont forget A57 and Denver are faster than Jaguar.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I don't know. Massive power scaling might be as feasible and easier to handle in terms of software? The other thing being Nvidia is worse than amd in terms of multi gpu suport.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

My problem is expecting a huge die to operate at mobile voltage and still able to run at typical voltage when given enough power. The initiation might be too much for the battery?
Im sure nvidia have figured out something or have worked with other companies to get this working.

Nintendo/NVidia are supposedly selling the console at a rather significant loss to get a wide userbase going, so it might not be ludicrous to say that they'll be selling a rather high-specced console/handheld at the $300 price point

Id say a 18% loss just to get this thing on the market.

They are not. Just more power efficient. AMD said they are more power efficient, but Jaguar is still over twice as fast a57. Denver might have a shot though.
