not trying to encourage people to use iosuhax as i've made it pretty clear that it wasn't made for end users, but it would be nice if people would stop calling it a bad implementation or a hackjob. it's not, it is litterally perfectly reliable if you know what you're doing, the only problem is that you don't. which is fine, but maybe don't shit on other people's work.

I thought you made it pretty clear too. Don't worry, plenty of people here appreciate the work you've done.

Says the guy who thought I was trash talking Luma3DS. But sure I'm the illiterate one here.

The Wii U scene had been suffering along for years with important stuff being closed source or private. It would be very telling if, now that there's finally something open, if the community all just gets together and makes something great with it within a few weeks. And then all of Hykem's and SALT's private stuff that's been in the works for years suddenly becomes completely irrelevant. And everyone realises this could have happened 2 years ago.

Hykem documented a lot of his findings. These hacks that are appearing now build upon his work.

lmao do you realize that the current 3DS scene isn't even as good as what SALT currently has done in less time than the whole community ? and are you expecting a dead scene to become better than what they did ?

What does the current 3DS scene have to do with anything? And anyway as far as the community is concerned with no release and nothing open, team SALT hasn't done anything yet. I'm just saying that if there was never anyone promising an amazing solution around the corner, maybe smealum or someone else would have come up with his own iosu stuff earlier, and someone would have created this RedNAND stuff earlier, which would have had loads of time to mature by now (think about how safe and stable a9lh is now after a year of constant development by multiple people). And maybe there'd be an even more amazing solution - maybe this RedNAND stuff is only the very beginning of the scene like PastaCFW was for the 3DS? I reckon the slowness of the Wii U scene is directly caused by the constant promising of something amazing in the near future (what dev wants to do hardcore difficult research on the console if someone is only going to pre-empt their release with a much better release, meaning no one would use theirs? And it doesn't make sense to duplicate work.) And then since of course it's all private, when the dev doing the promising disappears off the face of the planet, no one can even look at his work, try and figure out what he was doing and build on it. Everyone is then back to square zero with no progress having been made in the meantime.

This thread went to hell in less than 24 hours... now that i remember it, that's pretty normal on gbatemp.

Can we follow the thread topic? like, what happens to a nnid when you launch rednand? Do we will have to unlink the one from sysnand in order for the one on rednand to works?

God bless this thread because I've seen about 30 million threads this week about IOSU and rednand and leaks and all this other shit people are doing with unstable, not properly released code. I'm surprised the whole first page of this forum section isn't filled with "my Wii U bricked" threads yet and hopefully it won't be.

If you're not intending to release for end-users, there's no real point in spending all that time working on NAND compression and other things. I meant the way WiiUbru put together a NAND dumper.
To quote your post:
"The redNAND implementation itself is also pretty bad. It wastes almost 10GB on an SD, writes in raw sectors, and doesn't compress the image at all. You'll only get 22GB of usable space on 64GB+ SDs. smea used hardcoded offsets, which works fine for him. It's not intended for people to be using wide-scale."

Hi @smealum if you still follow the scene , would you mind releasing the tools and procedure to physically dump the SLC (and MLC) with the teensy like on your video ?

Thanks
