It's pretty disappointing if they are just releasing pre-patched games rather than the patcher itself. My advice would be to start a new thread with the patcher and source code and instructions. If it's unsafe then either a) if you have the ability to make it safe then keep it in house for a bit longer and wait to release or B) make sure everyone knows its not safe and ask for assistance here from other devs in helping to build it.

I much prefer a collaborative open project then one hiding behind closed doors with no idea what is going on.
