I've backed up all my games from disk. You need the homebrew program called DDD. It's not as straight forward as the wii, though. It dumps the disc, loadiine ready, to PC using a command line utility. Then you can even use NUS downloader to download updates.

How did I forget about ddd? :shy: @Sabrina99, you can use this (instructions in the first post of this thread), but it is a little more cumbersome than the old Wii days of clicking "Backup" and having a nice ISO file on your hard drive.

Tbh I still prefer just downloading WUDs or "Loadiine-Ready" versions online as opposed to dumping them.

Isn't DDD in "Useful Homebrew"? If it isn't I'll throw it in there when I get a chance. Might even do a writeup in a "So you want to dump your games..." section

Yes, it is. :D The problem is that there are so many useful parts that highlighting them all would essentially not highlight any!

The dream would be some kind of GUI or website to progress through sequentially based on the task you're trying to accomplish. I also wonder how much of the OP can just be torn out and redirected to Kafluke's thread or the Homebrew App Store.

Thanks all, I'll check it out. I order a new high speed SD card (my current card is a class 6 microSD, so a bit slow). Gives me a few days to play around with dumping disks before my new card arrives.

I thought there was a way to dump disks, but then when I heard there wasn't I thought I was mistaken and maybe it was only to dump saved games or something, so I didn't go back and try it. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again

That was my bad!

You can dump save games, too, if you want to carry over progress from disc to Loadiine.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm always a little weary that Nintendo might be sneaky and release an update through an ip not blocked by tubehax

I actually fear that too, every time i don't use the wii u i keep it unplugged.
I made localDNS mainly because with that i can read the logs and check every address it uses.

You might want to tell people to just update. Both wiiubru and salt are working on IOSU and stated it well only work for 5.5.1. Considering their is only 1 disc with 5.5.1 (paper mario color splash) you should tell others to update before it is too late. (That and so people will stop asking things that can be fixed by updating).

Also on 5.5.1 the exploit has 100% boot rate while older firmwares take multiple tries.

This thread is pretty outdated. You should add that a IOSU exploit and CFW is out (no sig patches)
http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-load-a-fw-img-for-any-file-dumping-wiiubru-status-update.445840/

The Brazilian exploit, ticket dumping, and others are out but no info on here.

You should really update this as this would be the guide most noobs will follow first.

Also you are kinda missing the tool you released for VC injection

Hykem left the scene about a month ago.

Question,

I read the post and it says the latest firmware is 5.5.1 which the explots works on, but scrolling down a bit further to the section where it says purchasing a wii u it tells me to buy one on a lower firmware.

My question is if the exploit works on 5.5.1 which is the latest firmware shouldnt it not matter anyway?

This guide is rather outdated. Their is no reason to be below 5.5.1 as the iosu exploit that is out (No sig patches so no piracy) only works on 5.5.1

@fiveighteen You might want to update this post as it is very outdated and causing problems including these

I agree that it should be updated to simply say to get on 5.5.1. I won't have time to go through it until Wednesday, though. Tbh, I don't foresee Nintendo coming out with another update. I think they're happy to be done with the Wii U and moving on.

I'm also not putting anything in about IOSU/CFW/ticket dumping until the dust has settled. Those projects are currently in a very raw state and are not finished products.

My tool is in beta but I'll get in it here too. :)

And Hykem left a lot longer than a month ago lol.

Do I still need to buy smash brothers for this jailbreak to run games on a external usb hd or is that part of the tutorial outdated too
